The Bernard Dunne v Ricardo Cordoba fight was in my opinion the fight of the year (and I have seen all of the candidates that are listed)

However it was never shown in the US and aint getting much recognition.

There is a vote at the bottom of the page - do your damnedest

Dunne V Cordoba gets another writer's FOTY award.

    Proboxing-fans.com

The ESPN poll is not a fair reflection of the fights in question, it has more to do with the majority of people voting not having seen the Dunne fight. If that fight had been shown in the US it would be the hands down winner.

Was in the U.S for the Dunne, Cordoba fight was a great fight very dramatic had Cordoba winning on points but when Bernard stopped him i was ecstatic was very proud of him i think a lot of Irish fight fans were suprised at Bernard picking himself up of the floor to win because of past fights but is up there as fight of the year for me also was at Eddie Hyland vs Oisin Fagan equally as good if not better and Quoting Gerry Callan of the star who does some work for Bernards promoter Brian Peters he reckons it was an even better fight also what about Jamie Moore and Ryan Rhodes Personally my favourite was Carl Froch vs Jermaine Taylor

I was th ya up until the last line. Froch-Taylor was an average fight with a cracking finale.

That's a bit harsh, Froch v Taylor was a very good fight with a cracking finale but fight of the year it is not and in truth fight of the year contender it is not either.

I was at Fagan v Hyland and although it seemed fantastic at the time being there, it doesn't seem the same fight at all when you watch it back on video.
It was also a more even fight throughout and didn't quite have the ebb-flow of Dunne v Cordoba, meaning it was less dramatic.

For me it's either Dunne v Cordoba or Marquez v Diaz, and I'd go with the former.

Moore vs Rhodes what is your opinion on that fight

I wasnt at the Hyland-Fagan fight and was REALLY looking forward to it after hearing rave reviews from a lot of people whose opinion I respect.

So I waited for it to be posted on YouTube and when it was I was a little dissapointed. I was expecting Pryor-Arguello but whilst it was a cracking fight I think some guys got carried away. Saying that it is my top "All Domestic" FOTY

Here is my list of top fights in 2009 (in order)

    Bernard Dunne-Ricardo Cordoba
    Juan Diaz-JM Marquez
    Sergio Martinez-Williams
    Martin Rogan-Matt Skelton
    JM Lopez-Rogers Mtagwa
    Andre Berto-Luis Collazo
    Marcos Maidana-Victor Ortiz
    Ryan Rhodes-Jamie Moore
    Martin Lindsay-Paul Appleby
    Tony Quigley-Tony Dodson
