I don't know about comp socks, but comp tights work really well. I expect the socks will do what they claim to.

Agreed, I think they make people that wear them look like the only gay in the village. After saying that, I'm going to get myself a pair.:D:cool:

If they were that good every serious runner would have them.Whatever about using them after races etc and perhaps some form of benefit there it's naff in races to say the least. Having said that if you wanna look like the village gaylord by all means wear them!

I use them for olympic tris, long distance running (20k +) and recovery.

You wont get much out of them for short distance. I think their concept is for endurance based events.

I've got some tights, but I've only worn them for running in a couple of times and that was because it was so cold I needed an extra layer on for the journey to the races. I do wear them for recovery though and definitely notice a difference with them for that.

I have a pair of compression socks and I used them in my last marathon, i bought them when i got a calf injury and maybe its a placebo but they felt as if they helped. Its worth giving them a go - if only to see the look on lads faces as they get passed by the only gay in the village.

Well said Asimonov. I started doing my best running when I was able to separate fashion/vanity from running. I wore compression socks after a calf injury for a marathon and an IMRA trail race. Admittedly I avoid looking at photos from either of the events. :)

Now there is one distressing image UM1...was Mrs UM1 subjected to the sweat pants also or an less modest version?

I think runners see the likes of Paula Racliffe wearing them an think ''they must work''
They look silly unless the person wearing them has 2% fat and is good looking.

Have had a lot of lower leg problems over the years and find these great. I don't ever run in them but wearing them at other times, including overnight, seems to speed recovery and prevent problems arising for me. I find that the ones you can buy in a chemist (ie not sport ones) work fine. I have a pair of Scholl ones that are plain black and I can wear them with work clothes without looking more odd than usual...

The idea is that they aid venous return so better for recovery, so the research says. I do wear them for long milages tho as I had a previous DVT and that leg tends to swell making it harder for the calf to function. On the subject of how you look...not cool. Like a total geek :p

Elvery's were doing a special on socks this weekend, compression socks included. I don't know where you're based but they had loads of stock in the Athlone store yesterday.
