Loft beds...

The main reason I'd like a loft bed is due to the face that my room is quite small and I have very little storage space so I feel it would be a good option to have my desk underneath and free up the floor space as it can be a bit claustrophobic in here..

Something like this would be perfect for what I had in mind but I've been told by many people that these sort of beds tend to be made of hollow frames and are not good for supporting heavy loads in excess of 200lbs.

    (Yes, I'm a BBW. Shush!)

Does anyone know where I can find a good, sturdy solid frame loft bed that'll support my weight and provide enough space underneath to house my desk?

Also, it'd help if it comes with it's own mattress.

You can get one of similar design with a desk fitted underneath. They tubing on the ikea model is very light , but heavier frames are available with desk, chair and even spare futon beds available.
You can get them with a totally steel base supporting the mattress, as opposed to a wooden base too.
Just look around and you can get a good deal at the moment!

Nifty! I was hoping to get a steel one for support purposes. Can you recommend anywhere in dublin?

Been hunting around on the interwebs for last few days and whilst i've found a few budget loft beds in Ikea and Argos, they all look to me to be very flimsy and weak-framed and probably incapable of holding an adult's weight.

I've found a few lesser known custom bed makers but lo and behold- no delivery outside of America.

I'm not willing to risk my life and computer by purchasing a shabbily made hollow frame bed but judging by how hard it is to find a retailer who stocks anything close to what I had in mind, I feel my only option is to have one custom built.

just get a carpenter to make you a loft bed.
my mums best friend did it for her,
and its a double bed, you don't need to order from ikea, usa, uk or the moon to get what you want,

draw up an rough idea of what you would like and im sure the carpenter will sort it out to your spec, also pick out a nice paint for it too
but you will have to buy your own mattress,

im sure you know a good carpenter or one of your friends will know someone
if you somehow have no mates, use adverts for carpenters,
or maybe look here on boards
