if its a DIY job, then i got mine online at satellite.ie, get yourself a decent triax dish etc that won't rust or moev in wind (I am presuming its for your residence and not rented property) Also presuming you want the usual English channels, get yourself a freesat box from richer sounds or the like, even Flors have HD grundig freesat boxes on offer I think. brackets you can get in dwyers for fixing to a wall and if you want a sky+ equivalent, go for the humax hdr, expensive but sooooooooooooo worth it

You can get Freesat boxes, even the Humax Freesat+ receiver, in Maplin in Blackpool but you will be paying way over the odds - the Freesat+ was 500 euro plus last time I looked. A great machine but not at that price.

maplin are taking the Pi**, you could get one delivered to Cork for about 270 euros and its s brilliant piece of equipment. Lidl like all other FTA receivers are annoying for looking at what the night has ahead for watching

+1 for this - I got my Humax from Tony at Satellite.ie - delivered to Cork within a day - pricey kit, but easy to use, great epg & loads of recording space (HD & twin tuner).

Had it up and running diy within an hour

I bought the my freesat box online, it's also a humax HD box. Shops around here were looking for €250 or more for it. I got it online through currys for £100 including delivery, they only deliver up north but i'm only 2 mins from the border so I got it delivered to my mates house instead.

It saved me a fortune, but it didn't come with a dish, I just hooked mine up to my existing sky dish.

The humax hdr box is 285 sterling in currys now.You seem to have got a great deal there. It's quite expensive,i'll keep looking around for something a bit cheaper than that

mine doesn't hace a recorder built in like the £285 one shown on the site, the one I bought is similar to the £159 version, but it's not that exact one.

If you don't need a recorder then don't go for the overly expensive one, I already had a dvd / hard -drive recorder at home, though i don't use it to record any shows.

apparently bbc, itc and channel four and introducing their iplayer/on demad channels to freesat next year anyway so the recorder won't be that necessary

*EDIT: I may have a grundig box. I'm not in the house right now. I remember comparing the two and can't fully be sure which I bought....damn old age, I'll be worse when I turn 26 :P

the i player will only be available to UK IP addresses and also seems to use up a fair bit of download limit if you plan on using it a lot.
