    Hi Guys,

I have a buddy that is into sourcing products from china and selling in bulk.

He has been selling Buffs for a while now but he has only recently started looking into the trademark that the original Buff company has.

FYI : A buff is a tubular peice of material that is used in sports (running, adventure racing etc etc) see this for detalis : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pperW4PKeSw

He does never try to sell his Buffs as original Buffs, use that companies logo or name or marketing material.

What worries him is the message at the bottom of this page : http://www.buff.fi/tuotteet/combi/

-“BUFF” is not a generic name, but a registered trademark, registered all over the world.

what does this actually mean ? does it mean that no one can use the name at all ?

i checked the european tm db here : http://oami.europa.eu/CTMOnline/RequestManager/en_SearchBasic

does this mean that anyone can trademark any word whatsoever and therefore no one else could use it ?

    Tnx
