Quickest route to Bunratty from West Dublin?

Was going to take the GF down to Bunratty castle tomorrow for the afternoon and it struck me that with the M6 complete and the M18 as far north as Crusheen, it might just be quicker to use this route than the M7/N7 one,even though it's longer. Any thoughts?

M7 / N7 to Limerick City, head across the shannon to the N18 towards Ennis / Galway, its signposted on the left.
