Is there a boards.ie mobile version available? I'm currently accessing it via the safari browser on my iPhone but I find the menu system on boards a bit fiddly to use. I sometimes have to press the menu name 3 or 4 times before it works.

    Hiya,

There is an option on the boards.ie site to switch to mobile view. Its down on the far bottom left. The default is white. Simply change this to mobile and the site will be formatted (rather poorly) for mobile devices. Dont forget to update your boards.ie bookmark by selecting boards.ie from the far top right hand side breadcrumb trail. That way you get the mobile format everytime you access boards.ie.

The mobile format itself though is rather poor. A native iPhone app would be the best solution though.

    Cheers,
    James

a dedicated mobile app will probably not happen for a couple of reasons...

    1. it's not feasible... any boards developers would need to learn ObjC to code it not sure if they know it or not.

    2. are there any other large community forums have an iphone app? i don't know of any.

    3. m.boards.ie works perfectly in my books. a mobile version of the site that does what it's suppose to. allows you to read and write posts it's not meant to replace the original version of the site.

    4. the guys are working on more important stuff at the moment, or so i am to believe ;).

    5. i always use the full version of the site on my iPhone I've no problems with loading times at all.

there's a couple of factors i've outlined above why i think a dedicated iphone boards app will not come to fruition, it's too much expenditure for very little gain in my opinion.
