Anybody know what state the motor ways and national roads are like in the east today - namely the N1 and N7 and the M1, M50 and M7.

What do you reckon they'll be like tomorrow?

    Cheers

M1 and N1 were bang on this morning at around 7am, not busy but well thawed. at worst a little greasy in spots but nothing to worry about.

Anyone been on the N2 from Monaghan/Castleblayney through to the Ardee exit onto the M1?

If so, what's the road like?

I'm probably going to head back to Dublin tomorrow and will going that route then onto the M1 and M50. Would be good to get an idea of what the roads are like.

I think I'll be here for the day at this stage. I plan to make tracks tomorrow morning. The snow is forecast for later on Tuesday.

I was going to go to Roscrea from Athenry today, I got as far as a few miles before Loughrea and turned back. The roads around Athenry are LETHAL!!!!

Problem is that the sun is shining and people are lulled into a false sense of security. The roads are thawed to a point, you are driving along and all of a sudden you come to a bend that is in the shade and the car just goes from under you. Its terrifying.

Well there both nearly the same, both are black, made of tar and have white and yellow lines on them, though the speed limit on the moter ways are faster than that of other roads, moter ways have blue signs, other roads have green signs

    Infracted for being a smart-arse/troll.

Please either contribute constructively or don't bother at all.

    N11 Northbound

    Ashford & Newtown by-pass area.

Inside lane fine however the outside/overtaking lane was very very icy.
This was as of 8:30 this morning.

Be very carefull if you need to overtake.
Hopefully it has cleared now that the sun us up.

Drove from Donegal to Wicklow yesterday and took this route. The roads were grand. Just leave around midday so the gritters will have been out or the sun will have melted any ice. Backroads in Donegal are lethal.

Serious accindent on M11 south of Arklow.
Avoid M/N11 from Arklow to Enniscorthy

    AA roadwatch
There is a serious multi-vehicle crash northbound on the M11 near J22 the Tinnock exit. One lane is blocked but the road may have to be closed shortly. Motorists are being advised not to take any unnecessary journeys. Slow down and take extreme care. • Very bad road conditions on the N11 between Ferns and Enniscorthy at the Scarawalsh R/A. • Dangerous roads in the New Ross area *WICKLOW* The Wicklow & Sally Gaps impassable. Very icy on the M11 near Greystones and around Glencree.

Drove up the M9/M7 last night around 10ish and it was fine, very little traffic but no problems at all..

I drove down from Armagh to Dublin this morning, via Castleblayney and the N2 as far as the M1. I have to admit the N2 felt slippy in places. As I was driving along every so often I'd very gently rock the steering (about 1 inch) to see if the steering felt light and if so, I'd slow down. Coming out of Castleblayney itself the road felt slippy but I had no problems. Having said that, I was doing between 40 and 50 mph most of the way until the M1, sometimes slower.

Once I got onto the M1 the road was grand. I was chatting to someone there who said there were a few crashes on it this morning. However when I was on it 11am -12pm or so, it was grand. No delays and the surface seemed grand.

The fog is unbelievably bad in Dublin at the moment, although it was much worse about an hour ago. I looked out through the window and could see about 40 feet in front of me and that was it.

Bad dose there from the accident on the M11. A great road in general so if the ice can get ya there it's a wake up to call to even just me but maybe many others to cop on and not take for granted the gritted roads. M50 tonight was bad too around Tallaght due to the fog. Took the speed down a notch and motored on.

N3 (at 5pm) Seemed ok from blanch up beyond Clonee too.
