nice gun. Me mate has one like that. I found it a bit heavy but im left handed and only new to guns

i had a semi auto .22 mag H&R many lambing seasons ago.

i would not have the rifle your looking as the single shot will become a pain ,there a little heavy.

why not get a sako quad and keep your .22 aswell as .22 mag

Just wondering damagegt, why a single shot?

Years and years ago i had for, a short while, a single shot, break barrel .22 Hornett. Great gun but i missed not having a second or even third shot as quickly as i'd have liked. I later changed for a 5 shot Hornett. Just as accurate but with the added advantage of 4 more shots as quick as i could action the bolt.

With all the bolt actions floating about why in gods name would you even bother with a single shot plus the fact if you ever wanted to trade it in you probably would find it hard to get a decent price for it.

In fairness,it isnt a bad little gun that is quite adaptable quickly to multiple cals.Simply buy a new barrel and drop it in and away you go.It is more a tool than a gun.Somthing to toss into the pick up with a spare barrel or tractor to be cleaned once a year wether it needs it or not.
HOWEVER our PITA firearms regulations make it a bigger problem that its worth to try and do or utilise it to its full potential like this here.

I know i know but i want a really nice looking 22 mag and i don't like synthetic stock look of the quad .Any other recommendations of a nice 22 mag .I was also looking at some of the cooper or thompson guns

hi i used to have a ruger .22 mag and loved it great gun with rotary mag which was great unlike a regular 10 shot mag that catches on everything

the anschutz 1516 ,is a totally over priced and over rated rifle ,in the cal your looking for .

a cz will be a quarter of the price, you have a choice of the varmint or the senior that i like the smooth lines of this one.

david brennan himself will tell you this ,fractions of a inch is all that will be in group size at 50yds.

Whats the groupings like at 120 yards on the cz. I have yet to see a cz up close. So I cant comment but I find the anshutz build quality up there with the best. And I think thats why you Pay that bit extra. They have a anshutz 22 mag in clarks sportsden in navan. Sportsden.ie

    .

Don't know where you shop, but I got mine brand new by parting with a couple of hundred euro and a 16 year old Marlin WMR that I hadn't been too nice too.

I wasn't planning on changing, just too good to pass that day. CZ are a good rifle.

just remember that .22 magnum ammo is very expensive and you might be better off going up to a small centrefire , and its a buyers market at the moment with people looking to reduce the number of firearms they hold .

Its not really, im getting 50 rem accutips for €20 and hollow points for €13-14

I had a CZ in .22 mag but got rid of it, Fine accurate rifle but the .22mag falls between two stools as far as I am concerned. Rabbits are mangled beyond edible if shot anywhere but the head, and while it can pass muster for foxes at <100m I would prefer to use a more powerful round to give that extra range and for humane reasons.
I have an Anny 1416 in .22lr and I much prefer it.

I'll agree with this. Not a fan of the Anshutz 64 action at all. Would take the CZ over it if they were the same money any day of the week, and they're not. Step up to the Match 54 action and you're into a seriously tidy piece of kit, and for quality of build, you'll have to take it over the CZ, but if you're looking for a rifle to wallop around the place, hack over mountains and through hedges and over walls and piles of rocks and drive nails with it (hammer-style) and then still be able to drive nails with it (rifle-style ;)) then I'd take the CZ, for a damn sight less money. They're properly brilliant guns, and even though the 54 action Anschutz will be a nicer gun to handle, it won't shoot much better, if at all.

Thats a bold statement my friend. I have yet to see a CZ that can out shoot a Match 54. Having owned both i know.

I cannot vouch for a .22wmr Anschutz as i only owned the .22lr but i owned .22lr, .22 Hornett in CZ an will agree they are a cracking gun and for hunting, etc they are far better for the money, but able to beat/outshoot a match 54..................... i don't know.

I meant in the sporting rifle configuration. In a target barrel, bedded well in a good stock, well, we both own that configuration and know what it'll do, but match 54 sporters, not any more accurate, practically, than a CZ. Besides, as someone who's hauled a target-style match 54 across mountains for bunnies, give me the little CZ any day! (And yes, there'll be one in the safe, in time)

Anschutz make three basic bolt actions for their rimfire rifle lines. The Match 64, the Match 54 and the 2013. The 64 action is a cheaper, sloppier, lighter action with looser tolerances. Not a great action at all, to be honest, rattly and poorly fitting.

Their Match 54 action has formed their reputation since its inception and has largely dominated the firing points of international target shooting ranges ever since. It's a seriously high quality action, with very tight tolerances, and married to a good Anschutz or aftermarket barrel, is stupidly accurate.

The 2013 is a newer action and won't be found in a sporter rifle configuration for some time, if ever. It's got some very nice innovations however, and will probably take over a good bit in years to come.

They also make the 1770 action, which is their latest centrefire action. Don't know what they were using for their old .22 Hornet and .222 designs.

Sorry, my misunderstanding. On that note you are probably right. I would have hated to live on the difference between my CZ and Anschutz sporters. At 50 - 70 yds no difference really.

That much you are definitely right on. I bought my latest match 54 from another shooter here and its a job to carry it from the car to the bench at the range, let alone across field and stream.

Hence the reason for its name. In 1954 Dieter Anschutz got the family's gun manufacturing license back (after ww2) and the action originally developed years before was then put into production.

Throw up a photo of the bolt and action and it'll be handy enough to identify!

The .22 WMR isn't an expensive round when you compare it to its main competitor the 17 HMR. I currently pay £8.50 per box of Win Super X....

As was said above though, it's a buyers market at the moment so visit as many shops as you can and see what they have- then drive a bargain. I shoot with a Ruger 77/22 All-Weather in .22 WMR and it's a fantastic rifle!

I was looking at different .17 but the price of ammo seems to be the problem there and as for owning a .22 i already have a lake-field mark II its as old as the hills but still a cracking little rifle up to 100 yards.so that's whats lead me to the .22 mag .And your dead right anywhere i have been shop\people are offering great deals at the moment.
