That was great craic altogether... who ever thought that falling down again and again could be so much fun? No injuries thankfully.although I suspect our average speeds were down a bit :)

Great fun. Absolutely freezing. Very slippy. Surprised there weren't any injuries!

In fairness MTB is all about falling off even without the ice... for me anyway. I'm getting a little better at avoiding it but am a bit out of practice. Today only one light fall (a slide to the side on a piece of singletrack) was caused by the ice, the other one involved hitting a tree stump and going up sort of sideways over the bars, ice was not involved. Miraculously landed on my feet for that one so hardly even counts as a crash, more a rider-bike separation. I didn't see many of the other crashes as the guys were generally out of sight in front of me, apparently there were a few but they generally jumped up and proceeded before I caught them :)

That last photo of the fireroad was like a rink, quite a few went down on that one, you come out from the singletrack at the left feeling maybe quite pleased you didn't come off on that, braked to stop, or simply put a foot down and bam... In that photo I think Ken was just trying to walk with his bike from one side of the fireroad to the other, I don't think he was even on the bike at the time.

not only was I not on the bike, I wasn't even walking either! Just standing there waiting and laughing at others falling down then BAM.
