Setting up Lidl FTA receiver to old Chorus connection - dish set to 13 degrees

    Hi all,

We have recently moved into a house we are renting & the landlord said that the previous tenant "had chorus" & had arranged the installation of sat dish etc himself. He didn't have any further details. I just have a Lidl FTA kit from a few years ago & am trying to hook it up to the existing system.

When I did a scan on the Astra satellite it came up with 3 channels, I googled one of them (Mango 24) and found it's a Hotbird 9 channel. I then did a search on that satellite (13 deg East) and found hundreds of stations. I see that on the "Usals setup" in the menu that the Longitude angle is 052.50 and the Latitude angle is 13.40.

I also found a spare LNB in the house.

My question is, do I need to get a satfinder and readjust the angle of the dish to get the Astra 2 channels, or can I do something else with the LNBs or just simply change some settings (like the Usals) to get the channels I want?

I would also be interested to know why any Chorus setup would point there or would the landlord just be using the terminology incorrectly, maybe the previous tenant setup his own FTA?

Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks

you need to point the dish to astra 2. :28.2 east.

(Old Chorus connection wont be a Satellite dish)

    have a look at dishpointer.com

Thanks John...was hoping to avoid that if possible but was thinking it might be what I have to do alright. Thanks for the links also - Ive setup the Lidl kit before & learned alot through trial and error (lots of errors!) so could have done with the pointers then.
I've never had a Chorus service but that's why I mentioned he might be wrong in saying it was Chorus - I haven't inspected it closely (need to get me a ladder!) but it certainly looks like a satellite dish in place already and I did pick up plenty of channels on Hotbird so what else could it be? If the dish is big enough (it looks to be an 80cm dish) could it find multiple satellites without changing the direction it's pointing?

    Thanks
