For many years now no-one has wanted to travel anywhere by train on the 26th of December.

In fairness to CIE, Christmas Day and St.Stephen's Day are two occasions when the railway would carry virtually nobody and we would have a thread about the waste of money operating empty trains.

Agreed. Yer man above just said it in quite a strange way.

In the meantime can anyone explain why a sunday service was in operation yesterday monday 28th december?

Was there a holiday of some sort yesterday?

Dublin bus were running a normal monday to friday timetable

Yesterday was the bank holiday associated with St. Stephen's day.

    Yesterday was a public holiday.

The Dublin Bus service over the Christmas is overkill in a huge way. Near empty buses are flying around the city with large numbers of buses sitting at termini for long periods of time.

A Saturday service, with some amendments, would be far more appropriate.

    Irish Rail.

For many years no-one wanted to travel on Sundays from Kildare or Newbridge either.

Or perhaps it is like the situation that now exists on the one-way rail service between Enniscorthy and Waterford? You can travel to Waterford at 06.25 ex.Enniscorthy but you can't come back the same day or, indeed, any other day. CIE exists in a parallel universe to the rest of us. :pac:

Ah right, missed a smiley clue.
What's their market research telling them about travelling between Limerick and Galway ;)
