To be fair, if you can go on the internet while you're at work, you're not really 'working'....

What kind of work do you do....to be working on Christmas Day?

I wouldn't mind working the odd year on Christmas day or the days around it. Long as I was getting a nice big wage packet.

Yes yes tis the season to nit pick I suppose....... :P

Call me old fashioned, but unless you happen to be working in a critical public service, ya should be off today. If you have an employer that insists on business as usual on Xmas day, then that employer needs to have his genitals removed with a blunt instrument.

Im in work - a 12 hour shift that started at 6.45 this morning.. just under two hours to go until some yummy christmas dinner.

I do shift work in IT for a large multinational pharma company.. There is manufacturing happening today so we had to be here (our shift happened to fall this weekend)

    At least its not nights...

i did a night shift last night. The roads were lethal coming home. Ended up as part of a multi car skid icedance and had to hang on to walls to get into the house. I don't mind working over xmas, it gets me away from socalled traditions and allows me to set the agenda.

I was scheduled to work til 11 last night but got out at 9.30, which was great - it was the difference between my family being up for at least another hour when I got in, versus being on their way to bed.

Yellowlabrador, if you were travelling to Dunmanway, that must indeed have been lethal. I was driving through built-up areas (Bishopstown, Ballincollig) and that was treacherous.

This is my first Christmas day off since I was 16.
Wouldn't mind being at work, pretty bored here.

    Yep.

Just another day, here in Qalat, in Zabul Province. (I've gone travelling for Christmas). No such thing as a day off here (for anything).

Did have turkey and steak for dinner though, so not a total write-off.

    NTM

My girlfriend is in work all day.

She's also 3,000 miles away in New York, and the reason she's doing it is to have time off when I get over to see her... So I'm torn between being so proud for having such an amazing devoted girlfriend and feeling like a complete dick for being the reason she's spending Christmas alone and away from her family...so it could be worse!!!!
