    Does ice damage paint?

Not really. It does not improve it, but it does not make any more damage than strong sun light.

Its photos of my frozen Alfa GT this morning. I would have given pics of the inside but I would have had to defrost the windows to get the doors open which I just couldnt be arsed.

    Enjoy

We had two cars out today with no de-icing required at all despite the roads. One of the joys of apartment living, underground carparks ;).

Indeed, i'd kill for a garage. I'd never leave the car alone if I could work on it indoors.

Of course it was. Looks like it was taken on the Ha'penny bridge looking east.

I think that pic is from a series taken at lake Geneve in Switzerland a few years ago ...something to do with very cold weather and a storm throwing water over the wall.

That was on the morning of the 24th.

    m5_frozen.jpg

Yesterday was worse. Completely ice coated.

And guess what ? That damn double-garage has been designed for Mini's or Nissa Micra's or what, but both the Bimmer and the Caravelle and the door won't close because most of the tail sticks out.

I've managed to get the Bimmer into one side and turn around and then just about been able to close the gate, but it's hard work and currently not possible because I have other stuff in there.

Those number plates are legal, also in Ireland, as it's a european approved font. As long as it has the IRL EU logo and the irish county name.

That's also, why all number plate recognition systems can deal with them.

As for migranes .. I think it's more about german efficiency, so that you can't mistake any of the letters and numbers. Who knows.

With the amount of snow, slush and crap coming down this afternoon and tonight, temperatures plummeting, I guess we'll have plenty of opportunity tomorrow morning to get those pictures.

I know i have them on my own car,i was poking fun at the "those number plates give me a headache, handy way of avoiding the M50 toll Bridgade" :D

The last person to use that line on me was a Garda "The might fool the gatso van's and the M50 toll, but the speed gun will always get you" :D

Must throw up a pic of my car today too, completely snowed in, so I'll just be starting the engine, not going anywhere!!! There's a massive hill to get out of my apartment complex, and all morning there's been cars trying to get up speed to get up it, then sliding back down to the bottom again :D

Doesnt look as Icy as it was in the photos, from this morning, though the Sun had and engine heat had pretty much defrosted the front end by the time I got the camera out. I was warming it up as Im working on some Engine Harness rewiring, when its cold the plastic clips and wires themselves tend to crack, hence me now "fixing" my earlier damage.

Well I've had one car with a smashed rear light and cracked bumper outside the house. Someone ran into it, and drove off. Nice.

Theres ice on the cars then snow on top. When people start scraping it off for snow balls theres every chance you'll have a bonnet/roof covered in scratches.

Quick question lads, handbrake appears to be frozen on in my car, when you put down the lever, you can feel the cable go slack and but no movement in the actual brakes. Tried putting it in gear and going but wont budge.

2 questions, is there any possible permanent damage ( i dont think so????), and what do i do to free it up?

I drove through smallish floods in cork om wednesday which may have caused the water in or around the cable or brake

Yesterday, after a very frosty, snowy and icy night, the cars were covered in a couple inch thick ice layer.

After turning the car on and let it melt from below, I could simply push the ice of the window :)

    Love the snowy micra.

As for hurlerontheditch's problem with the handbrake. I'd check that
out, sometimes the rear shoes liners can split and come loose
lodging solid within the drum, car becomes stuck(happened to the wifes
car last year because of the cold wet weather).
Just a matter of gettin the back wheel drum covers off and making sure
everthing is working/moving as it should.
