So I found out my fathers apartment went on fire last night, luckily it didnt spread but has destroyed everything he owns with smoke, think clothes, bed, walls covered.

Sister bawling because her gimp boyfriend broke up with her on the phone today.

Friend of mine spending Xmas alone in Dublin.

Merry f*cking Xmas all, wheres the hallmark card for "sorry santa burned your house down"?

So hows everyone else's xmas going so far?

My friend's house burned down on Christmas day about 10 years ago. He maintains that it was a tragedy, but it ultimately brought them closer together as a family. Nice thought really.

St Mels Cathedral in Longford burning down on Christmas day. That really sucks.

I fear the worst is yet to come for you on that front buddy.... :)

Let's just say she may have been playing away from home in a league out of yours...

Dad got hammered last night, leaving the car in pub with Christmas veggies and potatoes in the boot.

Car is now locked in the pub car park, dad still in bed and I've to go driving around to neighbours doing the St Vincent de Paul rounds for myself.

Could be worse I know, but how embarrassing!!

Too true, its an absolute disaster for the town and county. It was one of the few things to be really proud of.

Why is this any harsher than on any other day of the year? I once dumped a girl in early December and got loads of sh*t off her firends for 'ruining her Christmas'.

Dump somebody on their birthday, harsh. Dump them at Christmas, meh.

On topic, I had the whole house fire thing before on Christmas Eve. It isn't fun.

Well it's true. If you dump someone on Christmas Day they're not not going to enjoy it half as much as they would.

Me too.. that's the spirit of christmas. Hide until it's an appropriate time to start drinking to take the edge off.

It's always appropriate time to start drinking. It is not however always appropriate to stop.

Spending Xmas day on my own waiting to go to work at 6pm, not a happy bunny.

Though it is cheering to know that the Catholic Church in Longford has mastered the art of time travel...

My Christmas was going great until about an hour ago when I realised I really am snowed in - the car slid left right and centre, so I can't get over to see my wee bro and sis and give them their Xmas presents :(

The fire was probably caused by a faulty flux capacitor.

Oven broke this morning. Had to borrow a friends old cooker to get the dinner done. Not the worst thing that could have happened but pissed me off no-end at the time.

Dad fell down the stairs and damaged his coccyx in the early hours of yesterday.

Skidded as I was just about to turn into my dad's house to get Santy presents yesterday .Went sliding towards the wall. Of course I did the wrong thing and rammed my foot on the break. Stopped about 6 inches from aforementioned wall, didn't think I was going to stop at all. Not quite a disaster but nearly.

Today felt like a bad Xmas TV comedy special.

1st - I find out that a relative who never stops talking utter shìt about nothing for years and years was going to be joining us for Xmas dinner for no apparent reason.

2nd - The gas cooker nearly exploded, litteraly. A loud hissing noise came from one of the hobs before a fùckin' gigantic fireball shot out...............luckily the dinner had been pretty much cooked so we backed the hell away from it.

3rd - My sister who's a veggie tried putting odd ingredients into the beloved dinner and ended up with terrible soup, terrible stuffing and just got the mammy in an insane mood.

4th - 5 minutes into our finally prepared dinner the pipes in the kitchen decide to burst and the ceiling is flooded. Cue me and the ol' lad up in the attic for a few hours to fix it.

Overall not really a fantastic Xmas, memorable though :pac:

EDIT: Oh, and I got 3 pairs of black socks for Xmas :p

Water pipe burst in the inlaws, fortunately it was at the outside tap part, and a friend of theirs up the road is a plumber.

Ok posters way to spread the Christmas cheer.... I understand that Christmas can be difficult for people but personally I took today as a day of enjoying a rare time where friends and family come together and show some apprieciation to each other. (not just with the show of gifts and monetary objects but the fact that each person makes the effort to be there) Im usually a bit of a ba humbug but this year I was so, so, so thankful to not be working that everthing felt special. Dont get me wrong this time last yr I was on call, the year before sitting in casualty with my mam. To all you who have had a bit of a pants Christmas, log off, go downstairs n spend time with the people who have made you who you are. And to those who have had a series of unfortunate events today- be there, go home, have some rest and look forward to the year to come being better than the year just gone. Onwards and upwards and keep the faith! Happy Christmas x
