Spotted a bus similar to this on the N11 last night, and then this morning found it parked around from a relations house, must see if i can get a photo in the morning, looked to be in nice condition

Gorgeous looking thing. Much more style than the modern inflated caravan-looking buses.

For sale on ebay about 2 weeks ago, asking price was 50,000 sterling. It has only 200 delivery miles from new and was never registered. Its dated as a 1971 Bedford Duple.

They'll be hard pushed to sell it. I work for a company doing vintage tours and it's a quiet niche business. If it were a Leyland I'd say he'd have a lot less hassle selling it as Ford Coaches weren't the most reliable - it was said that you'd sent a Ford from Dublin to Knock but on the return leg it'd be coming home with a new engine. And being a Duple, they rot worse than any other coaches (from experience). We had to scrap a 1990 Duple about two months ago because of the severe rot to the undercaraige (the lockers were falling out of it).

Those Viceroy's were very popular with hippy's/travellers in the 80's & 90's so spares can be found (windows are a particular weak point). I know where there were a few in a field until recently.

£50,000 is steep. You could get a 1997 Volvo coach for that money which will earn its keep. That coach is just a novelty item, quite like my 1971 Leyland Leopard Panorama which someone has already spotted on here so it seems

If it is a Bedford coach, does that not make it a GM rather than Ford?

If this was never registered, would it get a ZV/71 plate, or an 09 plate? Not sure about this one...

It's a Ford. Certain it has a York engine fitted.

Never registered so should be able to get a 09/10 plate - I've seen some ex-runway buses from the 80's going around with 00 plates

Does anyone know the full story behind this?
How could it have been left unused for so long?

I'd say it was unsold dealer stock. I heard a few years ago of some Cortinas being sold on as new vehicles around 2007 as they were unsold/unregistered dealer stock and due to some legal issues with the owner/dealer weren't sold on.
