Laptop stuck on welcome screen.

Hi, I have a dell inspiron 1500 that when turned on..wont pass the welcome page..it just freezes. i added some new software yesterday (itunes and quick time media player)..and then shut the laptop down but now when i turn it on.... it wont go to the log in password screen....how do i fix this!!? anyone! Its windows vista...
