Sky vs. Chorus HD

Chorus don't have HD available in our area and don't seem intent on making it so for quite some time. We just got a new Sony Bravia and while the upscaling is mostly good, I'm looking at certain channels like At The Races and it looks awful. Anything with lots of movement tends to distort.

We were thinking of looking at Sky, but we're unsure. My Dad currently has all his sports channels, and Setanta. Setanta is part of the sports package on Chorus, which I don't think you get on Sky(you need to subscribe to the whole thing) so it could end up more expensive.

    Anyone have any idea?

As the thread title says HD. Sky HD blows anything UPC has out of the water.

It is not hyper compressed to a Youtube mosaic like it is on Chorus though.

The problem is as you said yourself, you have a tv that is too good for the service you have, and in particular the sony bravia you have is problably a 200hz set so motion will definetly be much of a blur.

In my opinion Sky HD would definetly help matters as most standard channels will be much less compressed like that of on chorus however you will probably still see the same issues on channels such as RTE...

RTÉ anytime I watch it on Sky has an excellent PQ. TV3 on the other hand

Same for myself. RTÉ and BBC are among the highest quality channels on sky.

Not on a new SONY bravia 200 hz set as I said, I done a job today for some1 who was not too happy with the motion blur on rte so I connected a terrestrial aerial that he has to the set so he could receive the rte in digital and he is delighted...
