Not too sure if anyone here are going, but the first confirmed participants have been announced. They are 2 Romanian Air Force MIG 21 Lancers (one in the flying display) and supported by one of their C-27 Spartans. Really nice start and such a rare aircraft to see, particularly in a flying display. MIG 21's are not going to be around for much longer, the Romanian Air Force are replacing theirs in 2011.

article in my local paper (The Swindon Advertiser) to say that the £4 booking fee is waived for those booking tickets before Feb 28th. Early bird tickets priced at £32.50. Not sure if this affects those booking from Ireland but worth investigating getting an early ticket to save a few cents.

Thats right, the booking fee is waived on the early bird tickets. Got ours during the week and are now all set and looking forward to it very much.

    Hi there,

We go every year. we have been going for about 10 years and have been turning up even at the cancelled shows!! We fly from dublin to bermingham, hire a car, drive to Stow on the friday. book in to the b+b drive straight to Fairford to watch the arrivals. We go into the airfield on the saturday, then go to the hill on the farm opposite the crowdline to watch the display as they mostly fly over that particular hill for the displays. Then back to the airfield on the monday to see the departures

I haven't but you will probably be hard pressed to get camping very close at this stage.

The first Official list is starting to appear and a Polish SU-22 and MS760 Paris, also a German navy PC3 Orion added. I will post that list as soon as I get to see it.

We are flying from Shannon to Heathrow this time around as there is nothing from this side of the country to Bristol any more. We are staying at a B7B in Swindon. As Steyr says, we should meet up if at all possible.

Ah, dont worry about accomadation, we stay in the Barringtons area near Burford and Stow-on-the-Wold. Loads of tiny pub b+B's, we like The Fox Inn, or The Old Schoolhouse. Just a half hour drive to the airfield. 1st Day on the hill in the farm opposite the runway, second day inside the airfield. Last day for the departures BBQ run by the US ground crew!!...my bother lives in Burford so he knows all the short cuts and places to stay!!!
Just hope the ash cloud stays away

    From the RIAT site.

RAF'S FUTURE AIRLIFTER IN UK DISPLAY DEBUT

The Royal Air Force's much-debated next-generation airlifter will be unveiled to the British public in July when it makes its UK flying display debut at the Royal International Air Tattoo.

Airbus's chief military test pilot Ed Strongman will be at the controls of the A400M when it displays at the airshow, at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire on July 17&18.

The aircraft, which is designed to fly troops and equipment, was due to go into service this year, but is now unlikely to be operational before 2012. Its appearance will provide the first opportunity for the public to see the culmination of a two-decade long project to develop a future military transport aircraft.

Due, ultimately, to replace the RAF's C-130 Hercules fleet, the A400M can travel further and faster than most current in-service airlifters and can carry larger payloads. It is also far more flexible.

Chris Pocock, Defence Editor for Aviation International News said: "When they first see it, most people will be surprised at the size of Europe's new airlifter. Thanks to its huge turboprops mounted on a swept wing, the A400M combines a high cruising speed at altitude with excellent slow-speed tactical performance, and the capacity to carry a variety of large military and humanitarian loads."

This summer's Royal International Air Tattoo will feature around 300 aircraft from across the globe, including the US Air Force F-22 Raptor, Romanian Air Force MiG-21s and Polish Air Force Su-22s. The event has also been chosen by the Royal Air Force to stage its flagship commemoration of the Battle of Britain, on its 70th anniversary.

In addition to the flying display, visitors can enjoy a large static aircraft park plus a wide range of ground-based activities including a concert stage, Battle of Britain 'Village', plus the interactive Tri@RIAT area for youngsters.

Just that there is a IAC PC-9 at Beauvechain International Air Show this weekend. It's 262 as seen here http://forums.airshows.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=24603#p245320

Shame they can't send anything to RIAT especially as there is a specially Battle of Britain fly past for countries that partook in it.

Thinking about going to the RIAT at the weekend. Just noticed that tickets need be purchased beforehand. As I plan on going by motorbike, I'm not deciding until I'm pretty sure weather will be ok for weekend. Does anyone know if tickets are definitely not available on the day? And another question (which is not worth asking)..........is it definitely worth going to?

Tickets are definitely not available on the day. Most certainly worth going, it's in the Guinness Book Of Records as being the largest military air show in the world. Your leaving it very tight for tickets though. Roll on the weekend:D:D

Just got provisional permission from the wife.........and as far as I can see, tickets can be booked through ticketmaster and printed out myself, so seems as if mind is almost made up.
If going, what time should I aim to get to the show. Probably get ferry on Fri morning, go down through Wales and get accomodationas I get close to that area.

Gates open at 07.30 and the flying displays start usually between 09.30 and 10.00 until 17.30 ish. Heard some rumours that the flying is to start at 09.45 this year. The queues at the gate can be quite long apparently, although in the 5 years since we've been going the queues move pretty quickly. The only problem that I can see is traffic, it can get very bad around the air field and so that is a good reason to start out early.

enjoyed the static displays and the flying display. Knackered from walking up and down the display line. Vulcan was great to see as was the Raptor and B52. Good to see the Me 108 and the 109s flying; not seen them live before. Spitfires and Hurricanes excelllent as ever.

A bit slow getting in but overall the logistics were pretty good. Need to get my act together and think about camping there next time.

I know they are not the most exciting aircraft around but there will be both types of RAF training Hawks in attendance. The Hawk T Mk1 1/A and the Hawk T Mk2 (also called the Hawk 128)

It will be an oportunity for those who are interested to compare the old and the new.

what a cracking show! Glad you enjoyed it Dave even though you were delayed getting home, also glad you enjoyed it jomcc. Highlights for me........well there were a lot, tha A400M was realy nice the vulcan of course. Also to see the RNZAF 757 being escoted by 2 USAF F 22's was uniqe and I doubtwe'll see the like again. The F 22 Raptor most certainly stole the show for me. Will be here in England for another 2weeks but when I get back i will have a ton of pictures that i will put up.
