Stephens Day is big here and any other day, except Xmass day

ye it would be interesting to see the different shooting traditions areas have. Around me game shooting isnt very popular. Most people have guns but they are all farmers so they have the gun to protect their sheep etc. But come xmas day etc the area is alive with them. I also read in Rough Shooting in Ireland abouot yer man going out shooting on christmas day ;)

    Ya it would indeed

He was in one of my gun clubs until recently he does what the rest of us just talk about when it comes to anything to do with shooting eg vermin control, raising stock, feeding stock etc

And a man who speaks his mind, which I like in a man :)

If I wasn't tied up with the family, and was a single man i'd be out shooting on Xmas morning. Ohh to be single.

one of the best days duck shooting i had about 10 years ago on christmas day.
there was a bad storm the teal were coming low and hard .

disturbing peoples one true family day of the year should be taken into consideration, if your planing a shot.
not what side of the border your on or church you go to.

I'm in Mayo. Not sure whether others go out shooting on xmas day, I never asked anyone. I shoot on my own or with my uncles, a guy nearly shot me 9/10 years ago so I prefer my own company since, sure I can talk to the dog if I get lonely:D

    east tyrone,
I'm in west tyrone and never heard a shot the hole day, Christmas day to me is a day with the family, all day. A day to let the barrel's cool down, and on St Steven's Day I got the trap out and we where all shooting, nine in total, good crack after a feed of meat.999

I was out yesterday morning no joy, just a few greys. I'm heading out to another permission now hopefully I will have better luck.

Ive no problem with people out on Christmas Day but imo its a day i like to spend with the family. If i didnt have a family and was alone then i probably would go off to a secluded permission and shoot but i think its a day the family deserves me to be there, and i wouldnt even ask could i go for a shot.

I got my pheasant a few day before Christmas so I was ok;) I only came back with a hare today, but at least I located a area where there seem to be a few rabbits.
