Yeah in my experience they usually stay put under cover in this kind of weather, move off hills if bad enough

this time of the year deer are very nocturnal with only 7 hours of day lite, they prefer to feed at nite.
there metabolisms slow down to cope with poor feeding and there less active to save energy in day lite.
saying that a warm sunny eve you will catch them on westerly facing forest edges and hills.

the cold will put more pressure on them to feed ,but with a full moon at the end of the month feeding and moving about at nite will become easier for them and thats exactly what they will do.

it will be mid jan before deer start to show again in numbers, this is due to pregnant hinds under pressure to feed from a growing calf inside them.

this is the same every year where deer are under pressure from hunting.
