    What do you reckon will happen?
    Will John Gormley finally ban the car (with the exception of Government Ministers cars)?
    Will the scrappage scheme actually improve sales?
    Will there be any other strange company sales like the Geeley takeover of Volvo?
    Will fuel prices head up or stay much the same?

    Oil prices will be pretty stable. Fuel prices will go up when we're hit with a green tax under the "pollutor pays" principle, but motor tax will remain.
    Scrappage deals won't improve car sales. Maybe when NAMA (us :rolleyes:) take the banks' headaches away and they loosen the purse strings, people might be able to get credit approval to buy a car.
    John Gormley will be caught in flagrante with a tree and resign in disgrace (fingers crossed).
    VRT might need to be renamed again if the EU grows a pair.

    Sure .. all bar Volkswagen and BMW. And Volkswagen will then buy the chinese manufacturers. They already having a good go at the market there. Skoda Octavia is China's middle-class favourite.

    The car will stay!
    Gormless will be chucked out of government (he sold out on his own supporters, he will be chucked out by them never mind the electorate since he became in all but name a sleazy FF minister)

    The srappage will/has improved sales though it will depend on the banks lending

    Takeover of Volvo? The Chinese will (if they are allowed enter the European market) eventually dominate it

    Fuel prices depend on the rip off taxes by the Government and with Chief Wingnut Min. Eamon Ryan who is ripping you off tax wise to support useless re-newables expect further tax rises unless there is an election

    Possibly a 10% increase in passenger vehicle and LCV registrations so overall volume will still be quite low. I don't see it being worse than 2009. The first quarter may be the toughest and I'd expect further dealership closures leading to more motor industry job losses.

    The scrappage deal will bring forward some new registrations but this may drain some 2011 sales. If NAMA gets in to full swing as quickly as possible and finance becomes more available then the second half of 2010 should see some improvement.

    As for Gormley - I won't even go there as an instant ban would follow!
