I am just back for Christmas and I have taken my Technomate 6900 Combo with me. I tried this last year and no joy but this year its working perfect. We also have a new channel 'RTE News'.

My location is the Finn Valley near Liscooley on the south side of the river. The antenna was always pointed to Holywell Hill in Derry so we could get TV3. The picture on RTE 1 on the analogue was always shocking and TG4 was worse.

Now after 30 years of crap picture quality it is perfect on RTE1, 2 TV3 and TG4.

    My views are my own.

Yep, Holywell Hill has been live for a few months now so I'd say that's where you're getting it from. :)

thats good - myself I am in Cloghan (between Ballybofey and Glenties) and am not quite high enough for Holywell i think - I have emailed RTENL about the trial and when would tests begin on the Ballybofey relay / transposer - all they said was it had "high" priority - no dates forthcoming - but fingers crossed tests will begin ASAP - if anyone hears any rumours regarding Ballybofey DTT tests please let me know ;)

The quickest way to test if you can pick up Holywell Hill is to find out what UHF channels your regular TV is coming on. If they are not on channels 23/26/29/33
for Irish TV then you're picking up a relay.

    Hope that helps!

    thanks byrnefm
yes - i know for a fact its the Irish channels broadcast on the Dreenan transposer / relay outside Ballybofey that i'm picking up - i think the Ballybofey / Dreenan relay gets Irish DTT in Autumn 2010 - I think that's official rollout - I HOPE they start trials there well before that
