Its time ti upgrade from my 3 year old Macbook. But before I do it I want to know if there's a new Macbook revision coming soon? Or will it be okay to buy now?

The last time I bought from Apple, a week later they announced the new Macbook

Early in the new year - maybe February or March. It is worth waiting imo.

Will that be an announcement or will they be on sale at that point?

Any rumors as to what the new model will feature? Or will it just be a slight spec increase?

It might have the Intel Arrandale chip, although I thought I read something about Apple refusing it.

It is too early for a redesign, so likely to just be a refresh. In which case they'll probably just pop up on the store one day.

Going by how long the last macbook and macbook pro designs lasted, It wouldn't surprise me if it were another couple of years before the current design of the macbook pro changes substantially. If the next gen ones do have an Arrandale chip in them, they will have been worth waiting for though!

I am going to buy a mac book pro aswell in the new year.My powerbook is old and shattered. Has anyone information on sales after christmas?Or do apple not bother reducing prices. Ill be using it for Djing so would you think the new intel chip will make much of a difference for myself?

Apple don't really do new year sales afaik. I would recommend waiting for the refresh, just to see what it is. If it's only a speed bump you could buy one of the current gen models from the refurb store. They'll be even cheaper after the new models come out.

I only intend to use it for college and the odd game through windows, nothing too stressful just games like Total War and some RPGs. Specs seem good enough for what I want.

Might just take the plunge, it's not like I'm going to end up with a crap 'pooter.

There's rumours about a media event on the Jan 26. Might just be iphone/tablet related but MBPs could arrive then as well.

It is only a few weeks - I'd recommend waiting.
