The dhb range on wiggle is great stuff at a great price.
The winter tights are really good and about 50 notes which is a good price for fleece lined cycling tights.

Winter training jacket for €45, bargain. :pac:

I second the DHB winter kit on wiggle. I was going to get an Assos Airblock jacket for about 240 euro. Bearing in mind how many times I crashed and tore my kit to pieces last winter I thought better of it.

In the end I bought a DHB waterproof, windproof jacket, a castelli fold up transparent waterproof jacket, a dhb balaclava, 2 DHB baselayers and DHB winter thermal tights all for about 200. I am very impressed with the quality also. The tights are great value, the base layers work well and the waterproof jacket (the 64.99 euro one) does what it says on the tin. Fits a little on the larger size for me. But I have been warm in the kit and dry.

    Will buy again...

This dhb jacket isn't exactly cheap but it is very good. Completely waterproof while still being breathable. It's not actually that warm, you would want to have your thermals from baselayers and jerseys. That it isn't warm though gives it much greater flexibility.

Shameless shilling aside, I have DHB leg warmers that work well with shorts, although the last few spins I'd have preferred bib-tights, still awaiting an order to come in.

Up top, I've had a merino base layer, jersey, and winter training jacket, and have been very toasty, almost too much so going uphill.

I think I saw an Aldi brochure recently with some merino baselayer stuff in it (leggings for both men and women, T-shirts for men and long-sleeved tops for women). From what I remember they were due in-store December 27th. I'll see if I can find it to check...

TK Maxx have a lot of general sports clothing that might suit. They rarely have cycling-specific stuff but you can get things that'll do the job at a reasonable price.

I have a pair of dhb arm warmers I would like to shift for a tenner. Large/XL size. They are a bit too big for my arms and slip.

Waterproof Jacket, leg warmers and leggings for sale

    Prices are negotiable

Otherwise I can highly recommend Santini gear for quality vs. price.

    The Aldi stuff is
Ladies' and Men's Merino Thermal Underwear
Body-clinging first layer in 100% natural Merino Wool that keeps your body warm in Winter and cool in Summer.
    Tops and bottoms sold separately.
*Hydrophilic finish * Breathable *Insulating *Long sleeves for ladies and short sleeves for men
    €19.99 each

They also have fleece balaclava, neckwarmer or headband (€3.99 each in grey, black or dark red), and what looks like an Oregon Scientific ActionCam video camera (probably the ATC 2K, it says it does 640x480 VGA) for €79.99.

It's all on sale Sunday 27th December.

A caution on the DHB armwarmers .. they fit quite large. I got the small/medium size and they won't stay up on me. I have to wrap elastic bands around the tops to hold them on.

i always considered winter riding required gear without compromise. if you are to brave the absolute cold for lengthy hours, the ryanair approach just doesn't cut it. granted intelligent purchasing is possible, just don't sell yourself short, cos those winter miles will go far next season!

I know this is a budget thread, but on the subject of avoiding spending money on badly designed stuff, my Assos armwarmers fit perfectly, but my Assos kneewarmers slip down. The armwarmers are sized and have grippers, the kneewarmers are one size and have no grippers.

I'm not sure whether it's the sizing or the grippers that matters, probably the latter.
