    Hi Guys,

Can programmes from Computer Magazine's DVD be installed on more than one computer?

So for example if i install it on my PC can i install it on my Laptop as well?

Or is it set up to only be installed once?

    Thanks
    C.

Yes for most of the programs although some that require a code can only be installed on one I think. Which ones in particular?

Cheers chordtype...the two i'm thinking of in particular are guitar rig 3 LE and ez drummer lite.

Any idea if they can be installed more than once?

Depends if they provide a Key, or require you to register for a key.

    they are both crap.

Tape op is kind of readable, and Resolution isn't too bad, just for Watkinson's articles.

at least there's free cds with one of them.

true - i also hate the way they never slate a product in their reviews even if its blindingly obvious it has flaws and a waste of money!

I wouldn't completely discredit CM and FM magazines, I certainly don't buy them for reviews, CM is great for free software and samples and for tips and techniques. I don't think many guys just starting out would find SOS good for learning the basics. Obviously SOS is more advanced and for the more experienced readers. I understand also that its probably the least biased for reviews but I think CM is invaluable for beginners (not really FM though).

Have to disagree there... dunno about the other 2 mags, but I've been getting SOS for 18 mths & I have never seen a bad review of anything - honestly.

I buy it mainly for the Studio SOS, Mix Rescue & "Classic recordings" articles. From time to time there are some very good in-depth articles (many are way over my head)... but as for believing product reviews?... that's about as reliable as believing everything the banks tell you!

Well I'm just going on what the other guys were saying about the reviews, I don't really buy SOS all that often as its not as relevant to me, my main point was to disagree with the previous posters about CM magazine because I think its very good for computer based musicians and beginners.

To be fair, I did pick up CM once & it came with a DVD full of samples/synths & "lite" editions. Seemed OK, but like you with SOS, not really relevant for me.

I still like SOS, but it cracks me up when I see a review for the latest (manufacturer X) product on one page - and there on the opposite page is a full colour ad for (manufacturer X).. the fee for the ad probably helped to pay the reviewer’s wages.

Actually, when you read the reviews it gas... even if it's very obviously a decidedly average product, they always finish up with a sentence like “If you’re in the market for …… then you could do a lot worse than buying one of these”.

Yeah I've noticed that too, its funny, it's like if your boss asked you whether you thought he was good at his job. You're pretty likely to say "you're very competent sir!". They can't slate their main source of income I suppose.

Thanks Drav! I have a feeling both of those particular ones require registration...i'll check that out.

As for the reviews guys - well even as a relative beginner i wouldn't necc go for any magazine as the sole source for reviews when there's so many good forums out there...just checking out a product on enough of them gives a fair idea of the goods and bads of it.

From what i can see anyway ;-)
