    Hi All,

My family is coming over for Christmas in Dublin  and I'm trying to put down a few ideas on what to do with them. I've got it pretty much all covered, bar Dec 26th. Any idea of nice activities organized in town?

    Cheers!

Ah, wonderful christmas spirit in here :)

Go for a walk up the dublin/wicklow mountains maybe? You could bring soup and sandwiches and have a picnic lunch along the way. There are some lovely walks in a short driving distance of dublin. Our family sometimes does it and it's great fun.

This is a pretty popular choice - there are a few organised ones around this year too, saw them in the Times this morning.
Even the boardwalk around Glendalough is easy enough - and it can be done in runners.

Take a walk around the Spire or go to the Kylemore Café.

Did the boardwalk back at the beginning of the summer and it was brilliant. If the day is nice you get some incredible views.

Passing the Bernard Shaw pub near Portobello the other day I saw they're advertising a Father Ted day there on Stephen's Day. I don't know what it involves but might be of interest if you've any big fans of the programme!

OP, the Gate Theatre are showing A Christmas Carol. Myself and the girlfriend went to see it and it's actually quite good.

Then maybe a nice drink with some dinner and there's a good day well spent.

Go to grafton street (ten metres from Trinity college). Will be a great buzz there and loads of side alleys to explore as well.

26th of December is traditionally the day the wren boys hunt the wren.

Go to Sandymount for the Wrenboys festival.

Another +1 for the races in Leopardstown.

Given the current weather conditions, going for a drive up the Wicklow/Dublin mountains may not be possible/is not advisable. If heading to Glendalough, the roads around Rathdrum and Laragh are pretty bad at the moment.
