Renting a desk in a shared office space

I've recently set up my own research consultancy which is going pretty well. Clients are emerging and work is increasing nicely.

At the moment, I'm working from a laptop in my spare bedroom. It has been great over the last few months as the business has been finding its feet and I didn't need very much more than a place to rest my laptop and some business cards, but in the New Year I'd be interested in renting a desk in a shared office - co-working.

I think it's time I separated work and home-time, and an office would help me massively.

Does anyone have any knowledge of shared office space in Dublin city centre, or any co-working projects or schemes which exist? Do you know if I'd be eligible for any of the County Enterprise Board or Innovation Centre venues?

My needs are very small. Just a desk space, internet, heating and maybe a shared toilet/kitchen.

In fact, thinking about it further:

If anyone else in this folder is also interested in renting a desk in a shared office, it might be interesting to look for something together. PM me.

I'm sure if two or three people approached a landlord or letting agency together, we could negotiate a good deal.

Maybe some space in one of the enterprise centres might be suitable for you, have you explored this?

    Thank MB74.

I've briefly looked into enterprise centres, but they're focussed on manufacturing and small businesses, rather than consultancies and services.

I have, however, found the Dublin City Enterprise Board list of enterprise space:

    http://www.dceb.ie/enterprise-space/enterprise-space_services-directory

and I'll check some of these out.

Depending on your area of consultancy, the Digital Hub might be suitable. you can rent a desk or an office. There are lots of facilities and a diverse set of residents.

    Thanks Ontour

Details of my area of work are on my profile.

Lots of the Government-run schemes look for businesses to be export-led or focus on R&D. My work is a simple research consultancy for SMEs and business organisations which is probably suited for an office in a privately rented building.

That said, I'll put some work into the Digital Hub application form this week and see what happens. The worst case is that the exercise will help me focus my mind more on what facilities I need.

Any feedback on the website would be appreciated. PM me!

There was actually an article on the back page of the Money (or Business) section of the Sunday Times yesterday about this. There's an organisation called the Dublin Hub which has only been recently set up - http://hubdublin.com/. According to the article, you can rent a cubicle with broadband for as little as €250 per month.

Hi cr8or. That's the sort of thing I'm looking for. I'll be in touch in the New Year.

Working from my iPhone in the departures lounge of Dublin airport on Christmas eve. The Irish entrepreneur is alive and well!
