Holy jumpin jebus......I hate Christmas now a days!

I havent felt the "Christmasy" atmosphere in a few years, am I the only one that has lost the magical feeling?

Its just the same aul routine, rush, panic, queue for ages to get into a shop to buy a present that will only be returned.

I rather give presents than receive them, so im not complaining about present buying.

I suppose I just wish I still felt like when I was 9.....

If you still feel the magic of the season, fair play, and what is it that retains it for you?

I felt a little Christmasy today. I avoided the media for the past 6 months, no TV, no newspapers and very little radio. I heard Fairy tail of New York for the first time yesterday and enjoyed it. I have to go into Galway shopping tomorrow though, it's going to be hell.

Yeah, Id say the first 3-4 times I hear that song at this time of year I feel a bit Christmasy, after that the novelty is gone tho.

Enjoy the shopping, Il be doing the same!!

Tha magic Christmasy feeling disappears as soon as you find out who Santa really is.

I'll tell you that in due course.

But first I want to ask you a few questions.
"Who were you meeting here today?"
    "Did you bring alcohol?"

I don't feel Xmassy this year as I'm in Australia and don't have any money, but I normally enjoy Xmas a lot.

I love Christmas but for some reason this year doesn't feel Christmassy at all. :(

Doesn't feel christmassy for me either, maybe its just cause I've no money this year. Or maybe when I get off work in a couple of days I'll feel different.

Either that or he's going to watch the DVD.

Anyway as for the topic. What I hate about Christmas is those stupid tv show christmas specials, where they try to instill the meaning of christmas on people by having the show be all nice and happy. In reality how can you be happy when there are people in world who have lost mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters. Christmas is the hardest time of the year, because people have to rub their happiness and their joy in the faces of people who aren't so lucky.

Merry Christmas from your friendly neighbourhood Grinch:mad:

    Maybe its the recession?

Christmas is such an over rated pile of bollix.

I will be treating it like any other day of the year. There will possibly be more alcohol involved but that will be the only difference.:)

I'm not even doing presents this year. My family are doing the 'global gift' thing and that's what we're giving each other. Re my friends presents, I have just arranged a lovely night out with each and every one of them. The 'gift' is each other's company.

I love christmas songs and all the old christmas movies on telly, presents and being together with friends and family etc.,
but I never start feeling really christmassy until about christmas eve.

Christmas can be a lonely time too though when you start to remember people who aren't around anymore,or if you start thinking that some people are homeless or alone on christmas day.

I absolutely love "Fairytale of New York",but when it came on the radio at about 4am this morning/last night,I started crying feeling all nostalgic for no apparent reason(except maybe the quantity of alcohol I had taken:o)

I would agree that christmas never feels the same once you find out about santa,
but I like the general air of happiness that seems to be around at christmas time, watching the films infront of an open fire, decorations, the songs being played in shops, the dinner, and of course exchanging pressies!:)

I was never really a massive christmas fan..
But every year it just gets to be more of a hallmark holiday..

And if they keep putting the lights up earlier every year, I swear by 2012* it'd be easier to leave them up.

*The year of the unavoidable zombie invasion.

I just get competitive on getting the side with the toy,to prove I'm "stronger"-even if I do have the upper arm strength of a sparrow(if they had arms).
    I suppose it's quite childish really saying"Ha-Ha I WON!",but can't help it.:)

the trick is to not pull, just keep your arm steady, let the other cnut pull and subsequently lose

I normally cheat by putting my thumb over the top of the cracker, and secretly gripping it a little underneath,so that I've actually got a grip on the cracker and not just the little end bit.:)

Tinsel-Yeah,everyone I know has some on their trees. It can be made look lovely when it's all colour co-ordinated etc.:-)

Ara, we never used tinsel. waste of time. As is Christmas!

never had to yet but I would consider it if there was no toilet paper, would have to borrow a few other peoples hats as well in case I had one of those sh1ts where the log breaks up before its fully out of your arsehole and leaves an unholy mess behind which takes you half the bogrole to clean up
