The thing is I hold provisonal licence, and my boyfriend was driving my car once, and today i have received a leter from Gardi, that i have been speeding, so i have to pay fee and i'll receive 2 penalty points!dont know what to do,coz i dont whant any penalty points, coz i was not driving. I could give a details of my boyfriend and he would not get a penalty points, becauce hes licnce is not irish, but the problem thst the insurance i have is that i am a main driver, and anybody with full driviig licence can sit beside me, so if i'll give my boyfriends details, will he be charget as driving with no insurance??please help me out!

    What?

Are you sure it was your bf driving at the time?

Does your bf have insurance which allows him to drive other cars?

    Hi MagikMarker!

    yes i'm sure!
hi has a van, i think he should have a insurance on that!or maybe not..

Assume he has commercial insurance on the van? That wont cover him to drive a non commercial vehicle.

Wtf ? Some terrible advice being given here.

If you transfer the points to him, he's not gonna get in trouble for driving with no insurance, even if he had no insurance. The system isn't that complicated. The only way he'd get in trouble for driving with no insurance is if he was caught in the act, and the gardai suspected him of the offence and asked him to bring his insurance cert to the station or something. Just transferring points won't cause any problems.

It's pointless saying something like that when you don't know the exact details of their insurance policy. It's just scaremongering.

What relevance does this have to the thread ???? That information is none of your business to be honest.

It's not as if I asked how big her boyfriend's cock is, I asked something that was directly related to the contents of their original post.

Yes they have. Stekelly advised him/her that their commercial insurance wasn't covering them to drive the private vehicle at the time. Which is pointless as he doesn't know anything about the policy. That is bad advice.

    Thanks Jape!

But if I am the main driver of the car, he is not alaud to drive it, is not right?or Garda will not check my insurance...and as I said, my bf can not get penalty on his licence coz it's not irish!so it would be a best way, to stay out of penalty points!I think...

Explain what relevance it has to this particular thread ? Why not ask them was their car taxed/nct'd aswell? Were any bulbs gone? Any of the tyres not inflated properly?

The gardai won't be concerned with insurance details if you are just transferring penalty points onto his license.

Send back the form declaring that your bf was driving the car, they will not follow up on the insurance.

    End of//
