Has anyone here any experience of getting their iPhone repaired through Apple? Mine is having an intermittent problem of locking up/freezing when calls come through which I am sure is a hardware problem.

However I can't reproduce the problem at will so I fear that sending it off to Apple, they will take one look at it and send it back saying no problems found. Would they try to charge me in this case?

I presume you did a restore etc? 99% of times apple take your word for it and replace the phone with a new/refurbished phone. I would be amazed if you had a problem. I sent mine back and it was like yours and had a new one in 3 days.

I had a sporadic problem, sent phone back and got new one (maybe refurb, who knows?) in about 3 days.

Just ensure when reporting the problem you tell them it is sporadic (e.g. How often per day/week) it happens.
