No. You cannot claim the dole during your uni holidays as you are not unemployed, you are in full-time education.

Not unless you've finished your course and out of full time education. And you may need a letter from the administration department of your college to show this.

However...
Not everyone does a straight 4 year degree
When I was there it was a 2 year cert, then a diploma and then a degree.
Names have changed since then, I think there is an ordinary and honours degree

Anyway, after year 2 and year 3 we were finished college and people could claim. Most came back next September though
