So I'm thinking I need to consume more stuff like fish oils and healthy fats. But I'm not sure what fish oils are. Are they capsules, or is it a liquid you drink? Or something you cook with?

I'm just wondering what other healthy oils and stuff I could consume. I'm planning to buy some tomorrow morning in Dunnes.

    Hi Grandmaster,

Ive recently started taking Fish Oils, as recommended by a personal trainer and was concerned by the mercury content. But I got some in a shop on Westmorland St, a sort of body builder shop I cant remember the name of and it says there is no mercury in them. Oudos Oil is a possible alternative if you like I think. Ask in the shop and Wes there will advise you. The fish oil tablets come in capsules and I take 2 after every meal.

    Hope that helps. :)

Any decent fish oil should do you. Odo's oil is very expensive, and includes Omega 3, 6 and 9. Except that you get plenty of 6 in most foods, and 9 from olive oil. 3 is the only one you are likely to be short of, and you get it from fish oil.

I'd agree here... I wouldn't be a massive advocate of Udo's oil. Additional Omega 6 and 9 is generally unneccessary in a western diet, and in many cases, unwelcome.

Most Omega 9s are monounsaturated and generally do not convert to eicosanoids whilst the Omega 6s generally convert to pro-inflammatory eicosanoids (unwanted). There are, of course, exceptions to this but the average person would do well to lower their Omega 6 intake and drastically increase their Omega 3 intake (particularly EPA) to promote a more anti-inflammatory lipid profile.

I hate to call someone out, but someone who porports to be a researcher yet has no publication history since the 70s, and has worked in Naturapathic (in my view, snake oil) establishments is of questionable credibility in the scientific community.

I've read a lot about of what that guy has read and it sounds interesting until you notice he doesn't reference a lot of what he says..or when you check the references they don't actually back up what he's saying.

He's right on some stuff but even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day :) but I'd wager he's wrong on fish oils according to all the latest science. That and the fact that every single traditional population goes out of their way to obtain marine food and save it for young children and childbearing couples.
