I have a power washer at home and just wondering about getting the type of "foam" that you get in the petrol station's jet washers.
What is it ?Is it freely available ?

It is called Snow Foam and you really need a special lance attachment onto a power washer to generate it or suds will just run off straight away. Not readily available over here except in trade sizes from specialist providers. Otherwise just get a bottle of Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo (not Autoglym as it doesn't foam much) or another mild or pH balanced high-sudsing shampoo without wax and wash by hand using a sheepskin or lambswool wash mitt (not a sponge) and use the power washer for rinsing off the suds. Dry off excess water with a microfibre towel. Look up the two bucket wash method for the best routine.

Does the hand washing with the lambswool not cause small scratch marks in the paint work/

No,as long as you use the 2 bucket method and keep rinsing the mitt.
