    Howiya.

Looking for a nice sounding 8 channel preamp rack to work with the mbox 2 to give me 10 xlr inputs overall using spdif. Just to beat the system and not have to buy more digidesign gear. What would ye's recommend?

8 XLR inputs over single SPDIF? How?

I think you'd need an ADAT input, not SPDIF. And as far as I know, mbox 2 doesn't have that.

The Digi 003 or the older 002 have ADAT in.

Certainly look at the Audient ASP008 which is a monster sounding box for the money - all depends on you budget of course.

The Focusrite Octopre LE (which we also can sell!) is an atrocious piece of dirt though ...

Digidesign , as I'm sure you know ensure that their hardware is part of a PT package. Therefore the only multi chan way around that is via Adat lightpipe on their 002/003s.

    Except ......

I believe Mackie ( is it ?) have a firewire desk that runs with M-Audio M-Powered PTools.

Maybe wait til January 14th to see what NAMM brings?

I guess ill wait so yeah.

Cant get the m audio stuff anyway cos i dont have protools m powered, you'd have to buy that separatly yeah?

That mackie desk sounds well handy.
    if only mbox had adat:rolleyes:

you could always buy the m-audio 1814, and use a bank of 8 pre's with adat out into that. the 1814 goes pretty cheep second hand, you could then use this with protools m-powered.
