So I was bored this morning and thinking about training for the Ultra in April when I came to thinking about this route.
Essentially it involves running from the M50 in Ballymun (Close to where I live in Santry) through the City centre and onto the M50 in Sandyford before returning back to Ballymun. The distance appears to be approx 21.5 miles. It basically cuts through the city in a North-South-North direction.
Anyone else come up with bizarre routes just to ward off the boredom???:o

I ran from Howth to Shankill, following the line of Dublin Bay. 20 miles. It was a great run. Would make for a great race (I know there's talk of building cycling lanes for the distance - Perhaps the rothar lads would lend them to someone for a day).

I spend a lot of time looking for new places to run, but along the M50 wouldn't be on my priority list (particularly after doing the recent motorway 10k, with horrendous winds!). I have noticed a few cyclists doing 'speed/time trials' on the M11/M50 coming from Wicklow, which is crazy. No helmut will keep you safe, when you're stuck under the wheels of a juggernaut.

Well I was just on about using the M50 as a start, mid and finish point. City streets/footpaths would be the main thoroughfares. No way you could run on motorway anyway as it's illegal in the first place and as you pointed out the dangers would be very high!
Howth to Shankhill sounds good alright.
I remember before something about people going from Howth to Johnnie Foxes which apparrently was marathon distance. I think they were walking it though...pussies!!:D

Wow, sounds cool. I've often run from Shankill to JFs which is a tough, tough run, because of the climb, but to do it after 20 miles?! There be dragons.
