    Hi all,

I'm starting a new role in East Point on the 4th on January.

I'm currently in Littlepace and I'm evaluating different modes of transport to get to east point.

I could drive, I could get the train(40 min walk to clonsilla) or I could get the Bus(70), or any combination of the 3.

If I drove, what would be the quickest route?

Straight in the N3, along the New Cabra road, North Circular Road and then turn left up North Strand road and then turn right onto East Wall Road.

I've travelled that route and it can take an age in the morning, even with relatively light traffic
What time will you be starting work at?

M50-Port tunnel-East Wall Rd should be pretty quick once the M50 works are completed, if you could stomach the tolls that is.

I think it will be shifts starting at 8 or 10. I'm going in for 9 on my first day anyway.

    Are we talking an hour?

Holy god i'd need to be on a 6 figure salary to afford 20 euro a day in tolls.

How about if i cycled to clonsilla train station(~20 mins) and got the train to the docklands.

How long of a walk from the docklands station would it be?

22 minutes walk approximately from station door to the bridge at Eastpoint. there is bike parking under the arches in Docklands if you want to leave a junker there overnight.

I think that's probably workable. Get a bit of a walk in!

OK, i have been doing some work in East Point for the past few days and i live in Ongar...

Driving, a real pain. Enough said! The traffic is quiet and takes me an hour to get in, god knows what it would be like when its not Christmas time.

However, i have been asking about and as from the 4th an improved bus service will run between the Docklands station and East Point.

There are buses waiting from docklands in the morning, you can't miss them they are purple and have East point written all over them. They are wiating on the trains that arrive in Docklands at 815 and 815. So the 754 and 826 from clonsilla.
In the evenings, the last bus will leave at 1750 going towards Docklands station. Currently the last one is 1715 which i missed yesterday, so had to walk. The walk takes 20 mins so not really that bad.

    Hope that helps...

It does thanks, Have you gotten the Docklands bus? If so how long did it take? 10 mins?

I got the train to Connolly and got the dart to clontarf road and got the shuttle bus from there, seemed fast enough.

    Try the www.eastpoint.ie website

There is a section on Transport and Commuting and all the info you need is there.

They also have a Car sharing scheme with the companies based in Eastpoint.

So I thought I'd go into the "Commuter Centre" in eastpoint to see what they could do for me. I walked around the estate for an hour looking for it, ended up asking a guy sweeping the street, he sent me to their management offices, went there to find out that the commuter centre has been closed since Jan 2009 . I was wondering why the phone number didnt work and my email got bounced!

Anyway I get the Docklands shuttle bus timetable off the manager.

    Morning Service(From Docklands): 7:20AM, 8:05AM, 8:40AM

    Evening Service(From Eastpoint): 16:50PM, 17:20PM

I *think* the same bus goes from Connolly to the point Luas stop, the docklands station then to East Point.

For me personally I'm going to get the Train from Clonsilla, get off at Drumcondra and walk to Eastpoint from there, I need to get some exercise.

    Not too bad a walk.
How about investing in one of those fold-up bikes and you could nip back and forth to Eastpoint in a few minutes in the morning and evening?

Can you take those fold-up bikes into the DART?

Yes, but it is preferred if it is folded and covered. http://www.irishrail.ie/index.jsp?p=120&n=153

It must be folded and covered at peak times. Outside peak, you can just bring it on without folding it.

Looks like the morning peak was edited badly and an error was created?
