Using Old Sky+ Box With New Sub & Can't View Old Recordings

Please help with this one. In a nutshell:

Moved house 6 months ago and decided to get a new sub in the new house and when the new box was installed, I then found out I couldn't watch the old recorded (unviewed) programmes on the old box without a valid sub. Fair enough.

We changed the boxes around today so the old box is now up and running with the new subscription card in it and I can't view any of the old recorded programmes on it.

Please help, there are a few things I want to see / transfer onto a DVD recorder.

    Cheers

My installer did get the (new sub) card paired to the old box. So we have all our channels, can use Sky + to record BUT I can see the programmes recorded on the box with the old sub card but cannot view them. When I try, I get "Recording Interrupted..Please Wait".

    Help!!!!!!!

So with the new card in the old box you can you see the old recordings but not play them, is that correct?

I would have thought it should work (unless you have a different sub)

There is a program that can copy content from the hard drives so you could copy one the stuff from the old disk to the new disk, but its a lot of surgery on the boxes, (and pc)
note: it wont decrypt the content as you need the sky box to do that..

Someone else may have more answers..

You can only watch stuff recorded from channels you have a CURRENT subscription for.

Assuming you have the same package as you did when the programmes were recorded, then the only other possibility is that sky have changed over their encryption system in recent months. Chances are, when you recorded the programmes the channels were encrypted using the old system at the time. Now that you've received your new card, which uses the new system, it can't decrypt the old system so the box isn't able to play out your recordings.

There is very little you can do unfortunately - only a previous generation NDS card could decrypt the program, but these cards are killed off once the replacements are issued.
