Any recommendations on a place to get some good opaque French Kilner or Mason jars in Dublin ? Last time I checked, they had some ornate ceramic ones in "Stock". Anywhere else?

I got a load in Ikea the other day. Either there or the hardware shop at the bottom of Rathmines.

I take it they are for Green beans?

Sunlight is not good for roasted beans.

It's a good plan to keep them in the dark.

That's why I keep the jars in the kitchen cupboard ;)

Got some jars in a bits and bobs shop called Purple in the Pavilions in Swords, Dublin. Similar to the ones that Hermano linked to with rubber seals. They are kept out of the sunlight in a cupboard but I find the clear jars are easier for gauging when I need to buy more beans.

Basically anything with an airtight seal will work. An empty, clean Grolsch bottle would even work, lol :pac:

BTW, in regards to storage of freshly roasted beans, do any of yous bother taking the breathing of the beans into account? I mean for me it is not a concern. The place that I order my beans from ships them to me in sealed bags with vents to allow the co2 out, I only put the beans into jars when I know I'm going to be opening those jars every day.

For the people who roast their own beans here how are you storing them and allowing for the co2 emissions? Is there even a need?

I use the resealable bags that Steve sells on his website - they have one way valves on them. Fairly handy and a reasonable price.

As Doodee mentioned IKEA have some very reasonable priced storage jars as doTKMaxx who have a great selection of glass and ceramic ones.
