Dell Inspiron 1300 to tv

Hi guys,

Im looking for info on how to connect my laptop to the tv to play movies off it etc? Is this possible with the above laptop does anyone know? Ive looked it up but have found no concise answer? Also I dont have a graphics card (I think, cant play games anyway)


Alternativaly, is it possibly to plug a usb into a playstation 2 and play movies from it does anyone know?

How you connect your laptop to the TV will depend on your TV mostly. Your laptop definitely has a graphics card (it looks after the display of everything).

It's not possible to plug a usb hard drive into a PS2 for playing movies to the best of my knowledge.

You can connect to tv thru vga ,or hdmi, or svideo .IS the tv hdtv lcd or old tv .
GO to www.svideo.com for info,
google connect pc to tv.Either way you need to buy an svideo,or vga to vga cable, or hdmi cable if your pc has hdmi out.
GOOGLE vga image and svideo image.IF tv is old use svideo cable ,and 3.5mm audio to 2 rca ,male, in peats or maplins/ pcworld/ powercity .
PS2 can play any standard dvd movie ,its a dvdplayer too.

OLD TVS usually have svideo, 3 round ports, rca,yellow=video,red/white sound in left/right .
LOOK at front of tv,side,rear ,they may be behind a flip down tab,
or you can buy a 3 rca to scart convertor,4euro if you just wanna use the scart socket..
SET signal to IN ,with the switch on the unit.
HARWARE stores have video/ dvd copy kits with all the cables and scart unit cost ten euro.
IF it only has vga out ,then the simplest thing is use a vga to vga cable if you have a hdtv,
for an older tv you can get a vga to scart cable on ebay.65euro.
ON AN older nonhdtv the max resolution you can use is 720x576.
YOU HAVE TO DOWNLOAD free powerstrip program in order to set that resolution.
MAKE sure the refresh rate on the ;laptop is 60mhz ,otherwise you,d damage the tv tube.

as far as i see theres no svideo out on the 1300.svideo can be 8 hole connector or a single round
yellow connector.

hey ive one of the old fat daewoo tv it has 2 scart ports at the back and im trying to connect me pc to it. would using svideo cable ,and 3.5mm audio be the best way to do it? also would currys have the svideo cable?

Most tv shops,even 2 euro shops have svideo cables or dvd copy kits with audio 3,5mm and svideo cables.
IF THE TV HAS NO SVIDEO YOU CAN GET SVIDEO TO scart unit,set it to signal in.cost 3 euro ,maplins or tv shop.

Yes they would but they'd charge you through the nose for it more than likely .I sent someone else to buy mine for me... they paid 40 quid for it .

It's nearly been worth it though as I use it so much but I'd recommend going elsewhere and getting it much cheaper

Anyway, I have an old Dell Inspiron 1300, working great, it has VGA but no s-video, or hdmi
I have a old TV with S-video, and RCA (Red, White, Yellow), and SCART, but no VGA

I bought one of thses cheap cables but it does not work, no problem it was only cheap

Yes, that should work. Nice find - surprisingly cheap for a converter. I hope the picture quality is reasonable.
