Lets hope it isnt a consultant who operates.

Otherwise the snip might become more of a 'major' surgery and his wardrobe will need serious updating

The operation is just so the surgeon can check if he really does have a heart....and a brain.

I rang the hospital earlier to see how he's doing.

    They said no change.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,789 ✭✭✭✭ScumLord

It's just a stitch he's been in fits of laughter ever since the budget.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,142 ✭✭✭Ebbs

I wonder what hospital he is having the procedure done in, id love if it was a private hospital just to see the reactions of the health sector chiefs.

If it is a public hospital, id imagine the procedure will be done with rusty knives and an axe, I say imagine...i mean I hope.

Its very interesting to compare this thread to a recent one done by a member of boards about a relative of theirs who was seriously ill. I know this isnt fully comparable but really highlights the fickle nature of people on this site who can laugh and crack jokes about one person they dont know and offer apparently genuine concern about another.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Is he gonna do a John O Donoghue on it and have gold plated surgeons and a chauffer to and from the bathroom when he needs it?

I'd say the security outside his room would be crazy.

"minor procedure" does not equal "seriously ill".

    Huge difference I think.

True enough. I could also pick some random poster from the members list (who doesn't post anymore), say they were a friend and that they passed away recently, and stick up a condolence thread. You'd get lots of "RIP deathSLAYer2000", "so sorry" and ":("

Its not really comparable Brian lenihan has chosen to be in the spotlight by running for election and that makes him available for public ridicule and hatred, its one of the perks of his job along with a car, driver and large salary.

    I like Brian Lenihan.

Hes one of the nicer more genuine members of the electorate, no bias from the fact his family originaly hails from athlone :pac:

    Yep, I'm aware of that.

I'm just saying. You don't have to post in the thread. I'll agree with you on a level though that it is bad form wishing ill on someone. I'm sure Lenihan can take the odd joke here and there but I'm sure nobody is wishing that he were dead. There's a line of course but I don't think anybody wants him to suffer.

Most the people here couldn't give a ****... truthfully. They only do it because everyone else does, and they're more embarrassed about by being the one who doesn't, than being the one who lies about their true feelings.

Honestly, would any of you give 2 ****s if I died tomorrow?

    Definitely not.

IIRC when Margaret Thatcher was ousted as leader of the Conservative party in 1990, John Major, the then Chancellor of the Exchequer, was conveniently in hospital undergoing a "minor operation". He managed to avoid any accusation of being involved in a plot to remove Thatcher. He then came out of hospital to win the election to replace Thatcher.

    So watch out Biffo:)

Aye! I agree with that! He probably arrived at the hospital running with a baby and diving for safety from an exploding ambulance a la Garth Marenghi :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 94 ✭✭DaveSlats

He's in for the snip nua.

Especially when his missus finds out.

Brian is in a sort of Tiger Woods situation.

A man with billion-dollar decisions, and what you might do with them, sloshing around in his brain while his better half just wants to bash his brains in with a niblick.

Brian, too, like Tiger is a dark horse.

He has gone in to hospital having accrued the full range of potential or even possible venereal diseases.

Most of them being acquired in the line of duty for his country in the FF tent at the Galway Races.

He has done his family proud by accepting what .........

    The rest is libelous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,229 ✭✭✭✭ejmaztec

He's probably having eyes fitted into the back of his head, or will emerge from hospital wearing a frock and answer to the name Britney.

    In honour of Lenny's "mystery" operation;

If there was a donor liver up for grabs, in a three way knife-fight, who would win it, Cowen, Lenny or Coughlan?

    And why?

Dresden8, I wouldn't want any of their livers.

If it was a doner kebab, Mary H would wipe the floor with all of them to beat em to the gristle-stick.
