    Hi All

I am getting married next year and we are talking about booking a honeymoon at the moment and we have it narrowed down to the choices below..I'm just wondering if anyone had been to 1 or more of these combinations before and which people would reccommend over the other..It will be late September next year..

Miami, Carribbean Cruise(Oasis of the Seas), New York/Boston

    Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Hong Kong

    South Africa, Mauritius....

Was on Caribbean Cruise a few weeks ago and it was wonderful! There were 2 honeymoon couples at our table for dinner each evening and over 100 couples in total. They seemed to really enjoy it!

Was in Mauritius a few years ago and that was also stunning!

I would choose one of those two and given that the Miami, Cruise, New York option is a mix of everything, I think I would go that way! The only issue for the cruise is late September is still in hurricane season for the Caribbean but friends of mine went on a caribbean cruise in last week of Sep and first week of Oct and the weather was superb! There was only one hurricane this season so it's a lucky dip - In any event, the ships will sail away from hurricanes and reschedule stops if it happens!

    Where in South Africa?

If you go to Kruger for safari, it's probably the best time of the year - it will be hot but not uncomfortably so and it will be towards the end of the dry season so visibility will be very good.

However, if you're planning on spending time in Cape Town or the Garden Route expect the weather to be very mixed. It's still spring time then, so you might get some pleasant days, but you're equally likely to get wet stormy days.

Well we are only in the initial stages of looking but Yeah the Cape town , Garden Route option was what we were looking at..If the weather is going to be like that it wouldnt be good.

Thanks, Yeah I was reading a bit about the hurricane season thing but basically what the reply was that the navigation systems are so hi-tech now that they just cruise around it so no probs really. Did you go to an east, west or southern carribbean cruise?

Well it wouldn't be my choice that time of the year (and I live in Cape Town). It's an outdoor city that you need good weather to enjoy and it's just not good enough in Sept/early Oct imo, it's into Nov before it really picks up consistently.

Defiantly the cruise. But have a look at some other options , the oasis is very over priced.

I went to South Africa and Mauritius for mine back in 2007. It was class went to Mauritius first and then to Cape town were we done a number of tours and then went to the Sanbona wildlife reserve for 3 days. Stayed in the Heritage Hotel in Mauritius gorgeous place we went all inclusive... I can highly recommend it . Didnt come cheap but its a once in a life time trip.... It was a 14 night trip all in.

We are going on the Miami cruise (mexico, camen islands and Belize) in Feb. I did a good bit of research and have only heard good things about it, it is supposed to be fabulous. And full of people on honeymoon. I found that it worked out cheaper to book with a Travel agent then off the website, saved 300 euro on the same deal in fact. Enjoy whatever you choose.

    This one!

I've been to nearly all of the places you mentioned and while some of them are great (South Africa) and not so great (Kuala Lumpur) I think the best combination is the cruise/New York.

I did similar honeymoon a few months ago. We started in vegas then onto miami, cruise on liberty of the seas and then a few nights in NY.

I'd recommend the cruise ! A week of eating, drinking and lounging about !
Miami was a bit over rated tbh and very expensive. Shop around for prices on net !

We did Western Caribbean and speaking to some on the cruise who had been to the eastern Caribbean the previous week, they felt the West was better.

We went to Labadee in Haiti which is Royal Caribbean's private island - lovely beach and plenty of water sports, zip line etc.

Also visited Ochos Rios in Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel in Mexico which was our favourite!

Got married in september a few years ago. We ruled out the Carribean due to hurricane season, mid to late September is the peak. You could be just fine at that time but I'm surprised nobody picked up on this. We considered SA and Maritius but ended up going to the Maldives and Sri Lanka.

Find out what happens if your sailing is canceled due to weather. Sometimes this is what happens. Even modern navigation systems can't outrun or steer a course around a large tropical storm or hurricane. Do you get your money back? Do you get a credit voucher? As an alternative, will your travel insurance pay out? And what will be covered? Will the NY-Miami flights be refunded?

For example, this one would have spoiled your Eastern Caribbean cruise plans:
