superdrive update

    my macbook still makes that stupid superdrive sound, on startup it doesnt do it from sleep anymore.

    wtf? :(

    yes it installed both of them properly - i double checked.

    The update doesn't say anything about start-up, just says it wont make noise when waking up... Your computers fine.

    oh I know ye.

    But why didnt they stop the computer checking for a disk on startup? they have fixed the most annoying problem with macs, except the bong.

    neither of them are needed - yes cd to boot from and to check to see if the system is ok are reasons given for them to but come on them to things can be done easier and better.

    like using the same thing to stop it checking for a cd on sleep and do the same for startup.....

    yeah I know I use the startup pref pane and it recently started working again without fail with the last update I did - its not really a problem as it is ''needed'' but hell it was annoying for public places.
