Just a heads up for a beginners course starting in January at Next Generation.
Starting Monday 11th January 6pm and continuing every Monday and Wed from 6pm - 7pm and Saturdays from 12pm - 1pm for 4 weeks totalling 12 classes an introduction to freestyle wrestling with Chad Biddle, Indiana All State 155lb Champion.

This course is open to Next Generation and non Next Generation members, and costs 60 euro for the 4 weeks (so 5 per class). If you would like to book a place and spaces are limited to 14 then call me on 0879043852 or email dj_kimura@hotmail.com.

Anyone who has trained with Chad knows how good his standard of performance and coaching is.

There will be another beginners BJJ course starting in February, keep an eye on www.nextgenerationireland.com for details.

Freestyle is actually a weak wrestling base (IMHO) for MMA. Greco, Judo, Sambo, American Folkstyle, even Collar and Elbow is better.

Chads area of expertise is actually greco-roman. And hey if you would like to come down to NG, you can tell him yourself your opinions on freestyle for MMA. ;)

I'd love to, but I'm 3600 miles away! Freestyle positives include The Russian and moves off of it, and takedown defense. Weaknesses include matwork (see Matsuyenko vs Ortiz), free stands you up too fast (to keep action going) to develop a strong mat game.

Gene Mills, a great free and folkstyle wrestler, has some videos showing how wrestling moves are applicable for MMA at genemills.com. See:
