this sickens me to the pit of my stomach - bad enough to beat the child to death, but if this is true, its a new level of depravity - castration with a butter knife would be too good for him

A court has been told that a 15-month-old baby girl who was killed in Northern Ireland last week may have been sexually assaulted before her death.

30 year-old Barry Michael McCarney has been remanded in custody charged with murdering the child, Mille Martin from Enniskillen.

A PSNI Detective Inspector said medical staff at the Erne hospital in Enniskillen where Millie Martin was admitted in a lifeless condition may have been sexually assaulted sometime before she died.

He told Omagh magistrates' court police had been contacted after the toddler was brought there last Thursday night.

Questioned by a defence solicitor the detective admitted that police had no scientific evidence when the injuries that killed Millie were inflicted.

He added that further tests would be carried out to establish such dates.

The detective confirmed that throughout four days of interviews the accused had denied the murder charge.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Enniskillen by video link on 11 January.

Absolutely sickening if true; but he's only just been arrested, there's nothing concrete yet.

Don't get me wrong, he might well be pure evil; but he might also be innocent

First of all, just to make something clear, before all the 'Kill him, Burn him' posts ..

"A court has been told that a 15-month-old baby girl who was killed in Northern Ireland last week 'MAY' have been sexually assaulted before her death."

"Millie Martin was admitted in a lifeless condition 'MAY' have been sexually assaulted sometime before she died."

"Detective admitted that police had 'NO' scientific evidence when the injuries that killed Millie were inflicted."

"The detective confirmed that throughout four days of interviews the accused had denied the murder charge."

It's hard to read about this sh1t. I went to the movie 'Precious' last night, it deals with this subject matter and it brought tears to my eyes. Can't believe this stuff actually happens.

He should be stoned to (Near) death by 100 people. Then defecated on by a horse. Then dragged by his tiny little ballbag through O'Connell Street by said horse, while the shoppers continue to stone him and piss on him as he passes by.

Then have his eyes gouged out. The have him hung, burned, Minced up, lightly peppered and fed to hungry Tigers. The the Tigers poo should be burned, and the send the ashes to the bottom of the sea.

Tha sorta stuff doesn't bode well with me. If anyone thinks that's "Too Rough" I have no problem talking some sense into you via boards PM.

Sorry, but I was so FOOOOKING angry when I saw that on the news I nearly punched the TV.

It's not so much his rights as opposed to being against state torture/execution, irrespective of the crime.
I think the ****er should be jailed til the day he dies, with only his most basic human needs met.

I think given that the victim is a 15 month old baby, for either would suffice tbh

It just makes me angry that something like this can happen to a defenceless baby

Wimp. You should at least have it out with them on-thread, or post a vaguely hostile visitor message.

It does that to the vast majority of people. Just because people aren't advocating torture and murder doesn't mean they're not sickened, upset and enraged.
And I understand being a parent gives a new dimension to the upset, but that doesn't make a non parent any less sympathetic to the child or any less revolted by the child's abuser/killer.

I understand that - but personally I think some crimes deserve a punishment a little harsher than a prison sentence with all the trimmings associated with it - TV's, games consoles etc.

Each to their own opinion I suppose

agreed, what really gets me is the luxuries these bastards have and then to get out after less than 10 years. he should be there for life on the basics as you said, the very basic. no plasma tvs, no mobiles etc, cant believe it has come to saying that, no luxuries should be a given!!

Yes, I'd personally prefer something harsher than a prison sentence with all those trimmings - a lifelong prison sentence in solitary confinement without those trimmings (some of which I just cannot take seriously as being the truth).

Well I'm glad you find people getting upset about a child being abused funny. Really I am.

no, what i find funny is the fact that ppl hang around waiting to take offence and then come down with their moral smugness. where exactly do you draw the line at comedy? is there rules and principles about laughing? yes, its sh1t that the baby died in tragic circumstances and all other sorts of what we already obviously know is wrong. dont try and belittle ppl with your own sense of right and wrong. we all already know the obvious. we have had to watch tragedy unfold every day of our fukin lives, we know how to deal with it and we know what right and wrong is. its ppl like you which stop any sort of progressive thought ever happening with your conservative small minded approach to information

You don't go to see films with these kinds of subjects for some sadistic enjoyment, you see them because they are moving, and well made. Kids, and Mysterious Skin are good examples of this.

My uneducated guess would be that this was not the first time an assault of this nature was committed by the person who committed this horrendous crime. Some how I don't think that a normal well adjusted person can go from every day law abiding citizen to a level where they commit such a sick, horrendous crime. If the scales of justice are to be ever truly balanced in this case then something more than a lifelong stay in prison is required. Prison alone is inadequate. I hate reading **** like this it makes me miserable.

Mother's hairdresser was telling her, that her sister lived next door to the couple.
Told her that the child was always presented immaculately with the best of designer clothes on her but...the parents were commonly taking drugs (cocaine, hash etc).
Police and social welfare did nothing as there didn't seem to be any harm caused to the child at any stage until the cruel end.
It's just sad cause i've 3 daughters myself - all under 4 - and to think that anyone would hurt them or want to hurt them makes me wonder what sort of animals are walking among us every day??

I was moved when I saw The Mission and around 1000 other films. Idont need to watch a film about abuse to get an emotional response.

Don’t get me wrong I’ve done a lot of living and I appreciate that there is a need to discuss certain wrongs and ill and of course people who have suffered need and deserve to have a voice and we need to hear what they have to say and attempt to understand it not just for the person involved but also as a society to prevent things like this from happening in the future (we all have a moral obligation).

For me to go and see a film like the one discussed earlier would simply not be my idea of a good night. I'm sure it would have moved me but only in that it would have depressed me, I’m sure it was well made but there are so many things that are well made yet serve no purpose.

As I have said before there are so many sad and evil things in this world that I don’t believe I will ever feel the need to have to pay to appreciate them.

Nobody is saying 'IT' didn't happen.

WHO comitted the crime and exactly WHAT crimes are have been COMMITED have yet to be decided.

SO why are you so adamant that the man should be "castrated" ??

In the last five years there have been numerous women and men released from prison in the UK after being jailed for MURDER of INFANTS becuase they found that one 'EXPERT' was wrong.

There were far too many 'MAYs' and lack of evidence in the article for me to be declaring my wishes for the guy.

He MAY be as guilty as SIN but in this country in particular we should no better about humoing to judgement so quick.

Exactly who, as members of society, oppose the existence of capital punishment?

Until our Justice system becomes so perfect that iy can find a way of making sure no innocent person can ever be found guilty of a crime they did NOT commite - then I, for one, would never emdorse the Death Penalty.

    To quote Biggie Smalls ..

"I would never wish death on nobody. 'Cause there ain't no coming back from that."
