if ronnie had a brain he'd be dangerous (and have 6 world championships)

I'm really surprised at that. The prize money for a week's work in Wembley is £150,000. No one leaves Celebrity Big Brother in tact, it's a case of leave your dignity at the door.

Really can't see that happening but then again we are talking about Ronnie O' Sullivan!

Bit of a let down for all the rocket fans. Snubbed so he can go on a car crash tv show. I know he is his own man, but snooker made him who he is as did his fans. I guess his priorities have changed somewhat. You'd wonder if he had of won the UK would he be missing the Masters - I doubt it.

Such an immense talent on the baize, but childishly odd off it.

I suppose it is a snub to turn down the chance of defending a STG£150,000 first prise at The Masters, but he's made it public that he has always been a Big Brother fan, and this could be a big oppertunity for him.

To be honest, at this time of transition for the sport (new board/chairman) with a lot of change and fun promised, this could be a great advertisement for Snooker with Ronnie in the BB house. Jimmy going to the jungle did not do any harm and with the World Championship just a matter of weeks after Celeb BB it could prove to be a good shot in the arm for Snooker.

Thats a very valid point, I never though of it that way I guess. My point stemmed from the fact that theres only six ranking events yearly at the moment, and for Ronnie to just not bother because he wants to go on BB seems like he just cant be arsed trying anymore.

This is when the sport needs him most, its on its knees at the moment with a simply UNACCEPTABLE level of events/prizemoney for proffesional sportsmen. Being honest Im a huge rocket fan, but I guess over the last two/three seasons, Im finding him so childish when he loses. He can make stupid comments in post-defeat interviews, and comes across so strange at times. I cant help but feel if he had won the UK Championship, these rumours wouldnt be surfacing.

If ronnie cant be arsed playing the game anymore, then he should just retire. Its disappointing for fans to hear this crap. He whinges about not enough events every season, then just blows town when it suits him. Can you imagine Lewis Hamilton not driving in the Monaco Grand Prix because he had the chance to appear on Coronation Street? I cant, but its the same analogy for Ronnie & Big Brother.

Ronnie - your without a doubt the best player to have played the game at times, but the sport needs you at the moment. Big Brother doesnt. If you feel your not competetive enough to play, then dont. But being runner up isnt such a bad thing is it? Stop sulking and show everyone how good you can be!

*Edit - A Quote from Jimmy White - "Snooker’s still my number one priority and I’ll be ready for the Masters". Thats from a man who hasnt been top16 competative in years (Despite his recent win). Thats why Jimmy is loved & missed in the game. Take note Ronnie :)

Hold on lads, all of a sudden Ronnie is bigger than the game?

If he wants to do the Big Brother than so be it.

The Masters has been around a long time and looks like being around for a lot longer,i think it can survive without Ronnie.

It really just goes to show you the respect that he has for the game. The Masters next to the World C'ships is the most prestigeous event on the calendar.I am sure that there are many pros out there that would jump at the chance to play at the Masters.

Regarding the money, that does'nt even come into it with Ronnie, money has never been an issue with him.

Lets just concentrate on the snooker and enjoy the Masters regardless if he enters or not, with Jimmy White been given a wild card it has already gathered a huge ammount of interest.

    :)

Ah no. Really like this guy no matter what people say about him or what he has done in the past. At the end of the day, he is one of the best snooker players there is. He looks so effortless when he plays. Like winning six frames in a row against Higgins the other week. He is top notch. Will be very dissapointed if hes not in it.

I dont think losing on Sunday had anything to do with him wanting to go on BB, as mentioned he always wanted to do it and its a good opportunity. Mightened be to bad a thing and could attract more snooker fans. Have to say Id enjoy watching him but Id say he could be the first to walk.

Id much prefer watching him play snooker, wouldnt you?

As I said, he can do anything he wants he's his own man. Just shows his priorities have changed. He prefers Big Brother over playing snooker.

If Ronnie retired tomorrow, I feel the game wouldnt last too long tbh, the crowds are coming to see one player at the moment and thats Ronnie, the attendance at the matches are at the lowest I ever seen them. I was watching a quater finals match there the other week and I honestly think there was about 10 ppl, maybe less.

I know Ronnie isn't bigger than the game but ppl are'nt showing up for anyone else, thats a fact, handfuls here and there. He's brought the game to a new level, he drawns the crowds, he makes the game look ridicioulsy easy and effortless, who else can do this?
I'd be a bit disappointed to see him go into BB as I think its a complete joke and one of the worst tv programmes out there, but if he wants to do it well so be it, but to have Ronnie and now Jimmy play in it would be amazing and in my opinion it would really help the game, cause I think it needs a lift!
Iv played and watched the game for so many yrs now, Iv stuck by it, but theres only a handful of players I enjoy watching these days, Ronnie being one of them, they really make the game such an experience for a fan to watch.

Earth calling to Ronnie, forget the house! take down the Masters!!!

For a person who has constantly got all his facts wrong i find your post typical. Not all the snooker public go to watch O'Sullivan, there are other players who make the game look simple. You say you have played the game and 'stuck by it'???? by sticking by it does that mean you would watch other players?? Somehow i don't think so, i refer to earlier threads where you slated John Higgins as being boring and not giving a tits about the game and being only in it for the money. For the record John Higgins is the current world champion and just lost in the final of the recent UK c'ships, but of course you did'nt watch that because Ronnie was'nt in it!

I absolutly agree with Whyno, O' Sullivan is a f***in liability to the game, would the game miss him? Absolutly not!

Can i ask you to do me a big favour and reply to connie147 and my questions on the John Higgins v Ken Doherty Exhibition thread on the next page please,we have been waiting a while! that way we may get to know how much you actually DO know about the game.

You know, I used to be a huge rocket fan. However, more and more Im finding myself in total agreement with that statement.

Looks like O Sullivan didn't do big brother. Watched it last night to see who was going into the house and didn't see him. I never watch it as I think it's just useless. Hope to see Ronnie on the telly over the next couple of weeks.

Yeah, he was there a few times during the tournament. Phil Taylor even acknowledged him in the crowd when he was giving his acceptance speech after winning the title.

Anyone feel a bit silly for believing Paddy Power?
This is a bookmaker who offers stupid bets that are never going to happen.
