    Hi

Looking to purchase some tri gear for the new season with a first run out in the Phoenix Park duathlon on 17Jan. I've been looking at the 2XU range (tri shorts & tri singlet)

    Anybody any reviews or recommendations?

    Thanks

Hey, can't give you any thougts on 2XU brand but this was my first season and I wore tri shorts and singlet in all my events which suited me fine. I'd recommend trying on the singlets though. I'm not really built like a triathlete so when I first tried on a singlet I was mortified. For duathlons I just had winter bike kit on - bike shorts, under layer, tech tee etc...

I would hold off myself on the tri clothes till closer to race time, your present body might well change by the time of your first race. Those tri clothes leave nothing to the imagination!

I have a pair I bought online but after striding proudly down the stairs feeling great with my purchase the look of horror on my wifes face when I told her I was heading out running with them told me everything i needed to know.

They havent been worn since.....maybe this year if I can get down a 1/2 stone in weight

2xu tri shorts are okay, the single is okay and the one pieces are okay.
Its WAAAAAY to like to wear in winter duathlons though - you'll freeze

Thanks. Was thinking more of the summer. For the winter months i just use Skins clothing (long sleeve top & tights/shorts). Was out for a 30-miler on the bike on Sunday and nearly froze to death. Still thawing out actually!!!

For the duathlon would the tri shorts and skins tights be the right way to go? I have no problem on the bike for a distance of 10K without the padded shorts
