    Drive through the main gates of Joseph McNally Joinery as you drive up to the main Reception take a right and drive a long the side of the factory and there will be parking on the right. Enter the factory by the side door up the stairs to the staff canteen.l

    List below are only some of John's cycling achievements which as you can see is fairly exhaustive and impressive.

    Represented Ireland in the World Jnr. Road race Championships
    " " in World Amateur Road Race Championships in Germany and in Holland
    " " in Team Timetrial 100km in Holland
    " " in Scottish Milk Race (finished top Irish rider)
    " " in Tour of Britain Milk Race 1978 - 4th place on a stage (best Irish rider) - finished in top 15 most stages

    Numerous international Stage Races - represented Ireland in (too many to list) - over the years! Same teams (team mates) as Sean Kelly and Stephen Roche, Robert Millar etc.
    Represented Ireland in 1983 Tour of Britain Pro-Am

    • Raced in France and Belgium on numerous Stage races throughout his cycling career
    • Member of Irish Olympic Squad in 1976 and 1980
    • Won the Tour of Ireland in 1978 - also won a few stages in this race (had yellow jersey for 4 or 5 days)
    • Placed (4th or 5th overall) in Tour of Ireland 1979
    • Ras Tailteann 4th 1979 (was race leader at one stage)
    • 2nd Overall Ras Tailteann 1986 - was a Stage winner also
    • Won Shay Elliot Memorial Race (Wicklow) 3 times
    • Won numerous 1 day races - premier races in Ireland
    These are all what would be considered 'major' races of their time inaddition raced every year/week-ends etc: also regarded as one of the 'top cyclists' in Ireland, national newspapers and cycling magazines would report on his 'form' and placing in all races - along with Stephen Roche, Sean Kelly, Tony Lally etc.
