Canon 430 EXII flash

Hi Guys,

Has anyone anything to say about the Canon Canon 430 EXII flash, for use on a Canon 1000D?

I will be using it to take indoor shots & outdoor work, of people etc at parties and was wondering what it is like.

Camera Centre in Tallaght are doing it for €300.

I've got the 430 EX mkI and would say it is more than suitable for your needs. So the mkII should suit fine.

You will find this flash an excellent accessory to have. I use the older 430EX with an old 350D and I find it very suitable for both indoor and outdoor photography. Go for it and good luck.

4 x AAs. Get the rechargeable 2700mAH ones and it will be fine. I use my 430 EX on a 40D.

€300 is a bit steep. You could do worse than these:

I have the 430EXII, it's a very good flash. Perfect for what you want to use it for. It's not bad on batteries, get a couple of sets of rechargeables & you'll be grand.

Highly recommended it. I got mine used for €120. Its the 430ex and not the 430exII. The II model recycles quicker, but otherwise i believe its virtually the same device

I doubt if the Canon site will list prices, but the price in the shops here is around €300. It'd be worth ringing around (Gunn's, Conns, Camera Exchange etc). Online prices will probably be cheaper if you don't mind waiting a bit longer for it.

I bought mine for €300. Great flash, no problems so far.

I use it for what you describe in the OP on a Canon 50D

I use the 430ex11 with my 40d also and think it is excellent. But €300 is fairly steep.
