Firefox crawling on Windows 7

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but I'm running the latest version of Firefox on Windows 7, 32 bit and to be honest, the performance of Firefox is atrocious. It's incredibly slow to load and to run. I have a few add-ons install for Firefox, but not that many, about 3 or 4 I reckon.

    Anyone else seen this?

It's like that sometimes on my Windows 7 as well, using a 10Mb line but some web pages take forever to load, not sure what the cause is, but would be interested in finding out. Have a suspicion it might be AVG link scanner so am checking that at the moment.

32-bit Windows 7, Firefox with 8 installed add-ons and no sign of slow down.

I'm running latest version of Firefox on a computer built by cavemen. It's fine at first but after half-an-hour slows to a crawl. I find that opening up the task manager, ending the firefox process and then restarting it works. There are some tips out there that you can use to tweak firefox; many reccommend getting rid of add-ons.

I personally like Chrome, but are there not privacy issues?
